Wedding at The Royal in Cancun, June 2012

Recommended Posts

Hello to all the brides!

I'm getting married on June 25th, 2012 at The Royal. The deposit is down, but haven't started communicating with my WC yet. Few things I was told already is that we can't have anything on the beach past 9pm because of the nesting period for turtles. So we'll have to have a reception in one of the ballrooms; not too excited about that. We're planning on hiring an outside photographer but haven't decided on one yet.

Would like to chat with the brides who are getting married around this time to hear what they're planning and how they're making their wedding unique.

Thx, Alma

Congatulations Alma! You will love the Royal in Canucn... such a fun resort and location for a wedding! Sorry to hear about the Turtles... it happens. Here is a link to the last wedding I shot there: https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.10150320183354487.357439.18683524486&type=1

I can truly tell you that the biggest thing you can do for your wedding... is be yourself and have fun! Let go of all the details the day of your wedding and go with the flow. Laugh at yourself, any problems that may come up and appreciated the moment! It will be fantastic and more your day than anything you could bring with you.

Best of luck with all your plans and let me know if you have any questions!

Take care... Linkn

Hi Melissa!

Oh, so fun to find someone who is also getting married at the Royal! Congrats!

Your wedding is on that Saturday then...I'll be there already, we're arriving Thursday, the 21st.

Who is your wedding coordinator that you have been working with? How have you organized your day? My WC is Maritza...We're doing 6pm wedding on the beach, 2 hour cocktail after, and then move into the ballroom cause of the turtles.

I hope we can help each other out..this is quite an experience planning a wedding over e-mail.

Alma

Hahah my Fiance and I are arriving on the 21st as well. Perhaps I will see you around the pool? :-)

I have been working with Claudy che, but she is going on Maternity leave next week so I will have another wedding coordinator...TBD

I have a 5pm ceremony, and then hopefully we are having a cocktail hour on the rooftop of the Caribe. I am not super happy about that because its supposedly a very large space, but they said they can block some of it off so it seems more intimate. I really really reallyyyy wish I did a site visit, because I am worried that it won't be nice up there on the roof. So basically it's a gamble...

Which package are you using? Did you get a DJ through the hotel?

I read somewhere on here that the Royal is doing a promotion on day-passes 3 for $180 vs 3 for $300. I think I am going to have friends staying at the caribe as well as the Royal. I would like to have them come over and party with me on the Royal side!

It sounds like I will see you around the pool. :)

I hired DJ Doremixx. He's actually a preferred vendor which is a miracle. Don't even hesitate to hire him, he is the best in Cancun area. And your WC can book him for you.

I got the Classic package and then I'll add on what I need onto that. Haven't decided on a photographer yet, still working on that. Will prob go with Gonzalo Nunez if you want to check him out.

Just returned from wedding there and can tell you that it is not so much the rooftop terrace is bad  BUT that it has the artificial green grass on it.I would suggest you try the Villa Terrace (oceanview and no carpet) or even the terrace in front of the gazebo for cocktails.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
