Seconds thoughts about TA, anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I should be sleeping now but my TA is causing me so much stress. She was very helpful a few months ago. She was very good initially, being proactive and responding quickly to my questions, but lately keeps on disappearing on me. She doesn't respond to her phone or email, and doesn't keep up with her deadlines. My guests are also getting frustrated because they can't reach her, and getting upset at me :-( I can't predict that the travel agent would be like this. I went with this travel agent even though she was not my first choice because she was close to home, something that was important to my family, Now, I regret my decision a lot. I wish I could change travel agent but deposits have been made.  I am so confused as why someone would change like this. If she couldn't provide the service, she shouldn't had offered. This is not just for a simple trip. I am getting anxious about everything now. I am not even sure my bookings are done properly since I haven't received any official confirmations from her!!!   crybaby2.gif

This is very frustrating, thankful we have a close family friend as our TA.

Is there someone else you could speak with where she works? Like her boss or manager or what not?  Maybe they can provide you with some answers or know what to do.  I would also suggest speaking with her and stating that you are frustrated and worried and hoping things are okay.  Its their job, so don't feel bad! Its your wedding and you don't need the additional stress of a bad TA!

She is unfortunately the owner of the place. I was finally able to talk to her yesterday, expressing my concerns. She said she will send of the stuffs I've requested but it seems like I had to insist a couple to times. I shouldn't have to insist. She seemed surprised and was very defensive about the fact that we couldn't reach her (going around and giving a couple of excuses). She almost made me feel like I was me who was having unrealistic expectations. She was polite but did not apologize or help me feel any better that from now on she would be more accessible. I am just hoping at this point that the bookings have properly been done (waiting for her to send me those confirmations). You are right JayKay I don't need the additional stress of a bad TA.

After a very bitter conversation, I am getting my file transferred to another TA. There is a way out !!!! I wish NO one will ever found themselves in the same situation as me! Now, I have to wait and see if the transfer will happen, if she will actually do it and how much she will charge me for cancellation fees "for all her work". At least I have hopes again to have my wedding !   undecided.gif

I found myself in a similar situation... 3 times!  The frustration finally got the best of us and we decided to do the booking ourselves.  Those three TA's left a really bad impression.  But from reading the threads on BDW, this is something that happens often... that you end up switching your TA at least once.  And there are really good & knowledgeable TA's out there.  Hopefully she doesnt take it personally and you're getting the attention & help you deserve. I wish I would have found this website before I even went searching for my first TA!  Hang in there!

Zbwedding, wow 3 times. That's horrible! I tried not to make it personal but unfortunately she did take it very personal.

I wished I hadn't been so polite and nice. It's been a nightmare with her. She is trying to have a crusade against me now.

Torilynnsmith, I didn't loose my reservations but the bookings were messed up so the new TA is trying to fix them now.

Wedding planning was supposed to be fun but it has been so stressful !!!

I am trying very hard to not let her spoil it as much as I can :-(

Been there too! I fired our first TA because she was terrible!!! Slow at returning my calls and emails, non commital, unwilling to give advice, just did not seem very interested in make the process productive and fun. So I kicked her to the curb and called another agency. Our TA now is AWESOME!!!! And turns out that she is a cousin to my future mother in law! She rocks. I am so happy that I made the decision to fire the first one. I can't imagine what kind of cluster f**k our wedding would have been smile36.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
