Ok so my first major DIY project after the invitations are the starfish escort tags. I am trying to explain this idea to my FI and my dad so they can help, but i cannot find the pics on here that inspired me to begin with. I would like to print the names along with table number on the card stock, hole punch it and tie to the starfish. Then the starfish will stand up in a sand box. Does anyone have any advice for how to make these awesome? I really need an example pic of the sandbox so I can show my dad. He does not have any clue what i am saying so he doesnt know what to build. Thanks!

These pics are awesome. I do like how the starfish standup in the sand better. I wouldn't want the first ppl that get there to mess it all up. I feel they have to stand on their own so the guest can pull their starfish out without displacing the others.

i think these look really sharp!  what a neat idea!  how did the starfish travel to your wedding site?  did they make it there in one piece?  i think they look adorable in the sand.  what a cheap way to set up table placers for your wedding day.  the little tags and ribbons add that extra special touch to the sandbox and starfish.  :)

I do love the idea. If I can pull it off I will be sooo freakin excited. Well they are not for the actual wedding. I plan on using this for the AHR for almost 200 ppl next month. But Here is what I am thinking so far..... My dad is going to make the tray to custom fit a nice dresser that sits right at the front door. Im going to try to match the fabric with the color of my sash (like a deep red)  for the tray and the ribbon. I do plan on using sand but my FI won't let me bring that back from Jamaica : ( so I'm just getting it from home depot. The starfish I found on Ebay. Alot did come broken and i had to superglue them. I don't know if i really suggest doing this for DW. I got a really nice card stock to do the tags and a hole punch that looks like a wave that will span the top of the tag. I just about have table assignments done so I will post  some pics when I have some assembled!

I am so excited! I finally figured out how to get the pics from phone to computer : )

The way that the escort tags turned out could not be any better! I was stressed out for a minute if I was going to be able to get them done or not, but once I started I finished over 100 in two days (most in one night). My dad finished the tray for them and I love that too. I found a cool looking piece of wood in his garage I liked for the sides and the bottom is just plywood from home depot.

I ordered the fish net from save-on-crafts.com. I think I might wrap it around the sides once the tray is filled with sand. I feel an amazing sense of accomplishmentwoot.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
