Anyone thinking about The Royal Cancun?

Actually when I started looking into resort for my wedding, The Royal was my top choice. Everything is new, food is great, service is great etc. In fact, they had made us an offer that was pretty good that we should have decided to have our wedding there.

The factors that made my decision to not have my wedding there are:

-Adults only resort (big factor - cannot accommodate all of my guests)

-Very narrow beach

-A bit on the pricey side compare to other hotels in Cancun

-Too new that there's been lots of complaints (they don't have their act together yet)

-At that time, it was hard to find information/pictures of weddings at the resort.

I see why you would be unsure of having your wedding there. Goodluck...

Thank you so much RoSean. I started looking at The Royal Playa del Carmen today, but I was not as impressed as I was with The Royal Cancun. I also started looking at Sun Palace, but I don't know what quality food they have, I haven't seen any wedding pictures from there, and I think it is couples only. So, if I can use the wedding pictures I have from Royal Playa del Carmen as reference for my wedding at The Royal Cancun, I think I should be okay. It is such a nice hotel, that it can't be too bad, right? I am just more worried about my guests stay for a week than having a nice wedding that lasts a few hours.

Hey Jquest!

I am also getting married at the Royal, Cancun this year, November 2009! It has been a little frustrating trying to handle things from another country, however things are finally beginning to pull together a bit. They just recently sent me pictures of a reception on the beach and their wedding gazebo, as well as their bouquet options and dinner options.

The only thing that is comforting to me (because, let's face it, I tend to be a little bit of a control freak!) is that I have seen many pictures of weddings at their Playa del Carmen resort and they've all looked amazing. So *hopefully* the Royal Cancun can pull it off as well!

Do you know if their offering discounted rooms for your bridal party because you are holding your wedding there? For some reason, they are dragging their feet on giving me the room rates for our bridal party.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! smile123.gif

Congrats to you!

The pics that I've seen of receptions there have been beautiful as well and I hope my day will be just as beautiful! As for room rates, it is just the two of us and they did not give us a discounted room rate (though my travel agent did a hell of a job trying!) so unfortunately I cannot help you there. I just set the date--are you using the photographers they reccomend (funever)? The hardest time I'm having is finding out exactly what kind of paperwork they require!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
