FMIL gift?

Recommended Posts

Here is my conundrum. For gifts, I have been getting my mom, fmil, bm and moh similar things.... my bm and moh are wonderful, and I could not ask for a better future mother in law. She is really, really wonderful (both inlaws are). since day 1, they have treated me like, and told me i was, a member of the family. They are helping with everything for us as much as possible.  My mom is the opposite - completely unsupportive, only says that they will come to the dw because they have to. We are not close at all, but she is my mom.

I want to do something really nice for my fmil, to say thank you for everything. But my mom is still, well, my mom. I do not want to offend her, if she finds out about the difference, and make our strained relationship even worse.

Does anyone have any idea of anything at all that I can do for fmil? I am totally stuck.

Yes, I just wanted to get her something extra on the side. I guess I should explain what I am getting everyone! They are all (moms, bms, etc) getting a large beach-y purse filled with: a pashmina, bubba keg, notebook, pen, bookmark, necklace, barefoot sandals, 'getting ready' housecoat, 'bridal party' tank, card, etc.; little things like that. Then they are getting separate things specific to them... nail files and lip glosses for the girls, pink flask for moh, that kind of thing. For the necklaces, I am getting the BMs little starfish ones to wear, but the moms are getting 'mom' jewelry instead. But I really wanted to give my future mother in law something EXTRA on top of that, since she is really, really going above and beyond in every sense (both while wedding planning and in every day life). But I do not want to offend my mom. I have no idea what specifically to give her that could be extra to say thank you for so much.

I do not know if it is the norm or not to buy the in laws gifts, but mine are way, far more supportive than my own parents are, and they are helping out a lot (in every way)... so I want to get them something. Not sure if most people get their inlaws something or not. I would think that you would keep it similar to what you get your parents. So if you get your parents something, than yes. if not, then no.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
