Sorry... this was supposed to be a response BriandLuna.

thank you so much!! your information really helped! I didnt think about the dolphin classes!! your wedding looked beautiful!! For the lighting, it looked like they had spotlights set up on buildings the provide light. did the lighting bother you at all? From that angle it looks like it could be bothersome, or blinding you....

Have you stayed in both the pyramid rooms & the tower? Im curious about the insides of the rooms. I want something big enough us that we can all get ready in, & something nice as well since it is our wedding. Are the pyramid rooms like basic hotel rooms? I know each room says that they are suites, but the pictures that i viewed look basically like a bed & 2 chairs by the windows... to me thats a basic hotel room...  im sure the tower room are more upscale & larger, but also more expensive.... from what i could gather about the honeymoon suite in the pyramid is that the only difference in size from the other pyramid rooms is it has a few extra chairs for sitting... i just want to feel like im in a honeymoon suit & not a hotel room... (& i think im making myself crazy since i cant see them beforehand!)

Are you using a wedding coordinator? I used a coordinator which is basically a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings. She has been super helpful and been able to assist with those type of questions. Also, I think dreams lists square footage so that may help too. I really like the wedding coordinator too because she'll handle all the travel arrangements for the guests and we can do payment plans too!

Im going through a travel agent that a friend of mine used for her destination wedding... i dont have a wedding coordinator which is probably why i feel so lost... my travel agent is actually in another state from me as well so everything we do is through emails ugh. & im having a tough time figuring out wedding timelines, i just keep researching online. but i didnt hire a wedding planner because it really isnt in our budget which is why we chose to do a destination wedding in the first place to save money...

How far into the process are you? My WC thru the travel agency is free and was able to get us better room rates for our group. She didn't help with choosing a place, but the coordination between me and dreams was facilitated by her. I sent eSave the Dates I made on my travel website, and she has also reached out to guests via email. She is also in another state, but we've chatted on the phone several times. I absolutely love having her because if guests have questions, I'll just direct them to her. I am not hiring a wedding planner either but I'm really glad I found the site I used. If its not too late, maybe try that? Idk, wedding planning was really overwhelming for me. Esp choosing where to have it. So it was helpful. Now I'm just getting lost in details. A month ago, I'd never heard of OOT bags, wedding logos, or wedding slogans! Lol, now I need them all!

@Briandluna I have stayed in both the pyramid rooms and the tower.  They are exactly the same unless you get one of the larger suites. It may be a few square feet bigger, but not by much.  Depending on when you go, there may be birds that squawk in the morning at the pyramids, so if you are late sleepers you may want to take that into consideration.  We were always at breakfast by 9:30 AM to spend as much time in the water or doing whatever as possible.

If you want a big room, I'd go with one of the bigger suites in the tower or the 5th floor in the pyramid (they have a living room).  However, you're rarely going to be in your room.  The make up and hair sessions (if you have it in your package) are at the salon.  The only time I was in my room was sleeping, getting ready for dinner and putting my dress on an hour before the wedding (which will include pictures with your girls.  I had the photographer come out there and take pictures as well.

As far as the lighting, no it was not blinding unless you look directly at them.  I was concerned when we first got there, but they are so high up that they are out of your normal view.

Items I thought were well worth the money:

1. Lighted Dance Floor

2. DJ

3. Centerpieces

4. Bows for chairs (this will color up your wedding if you want to keep the white table clothes)

5. The buffet (you can mix and match the menu for both cocktail hour and the reception - I highly recommend the shrimp sate at cocktail hour, my guests are still talking about how good it was)

You don't realize how much you are bringing until you start packing.  The only thing we didn't have them do is the escort cards for the guests.

The only wedding coordinator I used was the one at Dreams.  They have packages that you can pick from with regards to everything you will need to decide.  You can change up the flowers, etc. based on what you are wanting.  If you see something that you like, you can email it to them and they can make it as well.  I can send you the documents with the choices they sent me if you want.

For those wanting to do wedding passport invitations, I used www.custompassports.com, she did an amazing job, was quick and was definitely less expensive than everywhere else I looked.  We also did Thank-you postcards through http://forevercleveronline.com/postcard.html.  I do recommend getting the envelopes though.  We didn't and the post office ran them through their stamper even when we asked them not to and destroyed a couple of them.

Relax and enjoy yourself.  Once you have everything picked out, they do it all.  It was an amazing experience! Definitely a whole lot less stressful than planning a wedding in your home town.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
