My ceremony was at 5:00 pm and reception started at 7:30 pm.

I had my reception at Hitmitsu Beach which has plenty of lighting. I also purchased the lights that went under the tables for an additional $25.00 each - well worth the money! My centerpieces included lighting as well so overall the reception was very lit up. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Jen! The pics are beautiful, congratulations ! We chose Himitsu Beach for our wedding next year, any insight into it? The best positives, any negatives? We have been to the resort before, but don't remember seeing any weddings at himitsu beach. One small worry I had is the himitsu restaurant and the bar, whether either of them bring the general public too close for comfort at the reception. Thanks!

Well there are a few positives and negatives to Hitmitsu Beach.

Positives are: you will have plenty of lighting for your reception, bathrooms are super close, and the bar is literally foot steps away.

Negatives are: You will see people having dinner while your reception is taking place so you will definitely have some on lookers. This was not a big deal to me as long as I didn't have any wedding crashers. When me and my husband arrived at our reception the DJ announced us to all of our guest and everyone at the restaurant stood up and cheered too. It was kind of nice to see all of their enthusiasm and smiles plus throughout the remaining days we were at the resort, people recognized us and congratulated us.

My wedding ceremony started at 5:00 pm and my reception was scheduled to start at 7:00pm. We were running late so the reception didn't start until 7:30 pm. I HIGHLY recommend bringing in some extra lighting whether that be through your centerpieces or maybe lights under the table. It can get very dark and I can imagine the other beach is even more darker.

I wanted to post about Caribe beach.  We loved it there.  It's really not that windy and you will welcome it after you start dancing.  The lighting is great because they bring out bright lights and aim it towards the reception along with the lights from the towers.  There is a restaurant there as well, but it's a lot further off than Himatsu. The Japanese restaurant can literally look over the balcony and down at the tables.  Caribe beach is definitely more private and we felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves.  They do not put you all the way down by the water.  There is no bar to walk to (that I can remember) but the waiters will bring everything to you and they are fast.  Also, just a side note, I've vacationed at this resort for years and the Himatsu beach has been shrinking in size due to water levels rising.  Don't get me wrong, Himatsu beach is still a beautiful location.  It will really depend on what you are looking for with regards to privacy.

I've attached 2 pictures (1) lighting from building (2) Additional lighting.

@jennymay2013 thank you so much!! your info really helped. I do want something more private which is why i like the idea of that beach. i was told that the gazebo is very windy & since caribe beach is right next to it i just wanted to make sure it wasnt too bad. i dont mind a breeze but i dont want our decorations to be blowing away ya know? I cant see your pictures beacuse im fairly new & dont have enough posts for downloads. can u email them to me at bnscogna@comcast.net? Also you said you have been going there for years. can you reccomend any of the rooms? there are so many to choose from. We were thinking about getting the honeymoon suit, but i hear its about the same size as the dolphin front room so why not just get that? also they look kind of like basic hotel rooms to me, so i dont know if its worth it to spend the extra & just get a room in the tower instead...

Hi there... honestly the basic ocean view room I think is the best.  They pretty much have the same view as the tower, only the tower will have a higher view if you happen to get one of the high floors and will have internet.  The dolphin view however, although can be pretty, you should only get if you are able to get the high floor (4 or 5).  The dolphins can be loud and the swimming with the dolphin sessions start pretty early in the morning.  You will be able to hear everything.  I'll send the photo's off to you shortly.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
