Im also confused on this.  We are going for an onsite visit the end of this month and I'm going to inquire about the centerpieces.  I've always envisioned designing my own, but it seems like an added headache having to send or carry this extra decor to Mexico.  I will let you know what she says when I speak to her in person.

Hi,

I did a site visit in April. My thoughts are - I am going to go to Wal Mart which is a couple miles down the road to get a few items for the center pieces the day before/2 days before. Cecilia said the rest will be free because they are adding sand and water (which they can collect from the beach). I am purchasing the glass at Wal Mart (along with candy for my OOT Bag) they will set up for free. as for the lighting I am just going to pay the fee and have them use what they have because I do not want the headache.

The pro to bringing your own: Definately Cheaper, they will set up for free, guaranteed what you want

The Negative for bringing your own: Definately more of a headache, have to get it through customs, and on the airplane (contemplate glass breaking)

I do not nor do i think any bride would recommend shipping. A lot of people's items never arrive.

If you go with something they can provide - I am sure it is beautiful too. I just attended a wedding at another dreams and they picked it out when we got down there, they were simple, beautiful and matched the decor!

A piece of advice I got, which is why I attempting (not succeeding) to concern myself with centerpieces, is all the guests noted that is the last detail they are paying attention too! There eyes are on you! :)

So weird, I was told if I brought in stuff I had to pay a $100 fee for them decorate or anything like that.  I was going to buy sashes and stuff instead of paying the fee.  But in the end I ended up paying a wedding planner.  I will have to pay a $250 vendor fee but I won't have to pay for any decorations or anything as she will be bringing it.  I'm so happy I'm doing this as I will be able to have her deal with the Dreams and all that good stuff.  I am also not having the reception at the Dreams just the ceremony, so it will be nice for her to help gather my guest and ensure they get on the bus to our reception site..wow a lot of us getting married around the same time..my wedding is on the 19th..I will see many of you there!!!!

Just a thought, if anyone who is going to be there and will have sashes, etc or any decor let me know, maybe there are stuff we can go halfers on and re-use if we have same colors.  Just a thought..not sure if it will work but you never know once the discussion comes up...

Ok great thanks girls!! I would like to bring my own but I don't think it's worth it really. I already have a ton of things to bring with all the oot bag stuff, and I am also bring my bouquet. We are only there two days before the wedding so it's not much time to run out and buy stuff. I will probably end up going with one of the resort options. Any info you find out Karen would be great! Thanks!

Before you buy the vases at Walmart etc...I would ask Claudia to borrow ones they already have ...a lot of brides have left behind vases for other brides to use. I boroowed these glass cylinders for the vases...and brought some VERY nice fake green cymbidium orchids and since they were submerged in water with sand no one knew they were not real.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
