I booked my wedding through a wedding coordinator at www.destinationweddings.com I'm not sure if anyone is interested in using a coordinator, but if you are at all, I'd definitely recommend them. I had to pay $50 for a consultation that went directly to my booking if I signed up (which I did).

My coordinator helped me sort through endless resorts until we settled with Dreams Cancun...the gazebo won me over! :) Anyway, it has been great for a number of reasons. I have a centralized web page with a blog and all travel details for the guests to log in to. My guests were given and email save the date with log in details (we sent the magnet kind after) and my coordinator helped plan everyone's booking with them. So, I was completely hands off after I booked our dates and rooms. She has helped everybody coordinate insurance, their room classes, etc. They also have this cool easy payment plan that most of us took advantage of. You book with a $100/per person fee and then you can make payments interest free for the remaining balance. For example, we set up a monthly payment to them so that by the time our travel comes, we've paid it off! I thought this was the coolest thing because a lot of my guests don't have tons of money. They also have an "excursions" portion on the wedding page where you can book outside trips directly through their website for tours and all kinds of stuff. We haven't decided what we want to do yet, but have been incredibly pleased with the level of support that we are getting. We are so busy, that having a single point of contact for our guests to coordinate with has been the biggest help of all time. She also negotiated with resorts to get us the best price available. They have a guarantee that they will be the lowest you find....or something like that. :)

Anyway, I wanted to pass that on because I have truly loved the experience that I've had with having a wedding coordinator so far!!!

Feel free to message me with any questions.

I am getting married at Dreams Cancun in may of 2013 and was getting worried that Claudia hasn't emailed me back.  Its been a month since I last emailed her and still no response.  Should I be concerned?  Is there a direct number that I could reach her by phone..

Thanks

Hi there! Claudia is my planner as well. I booked through a 3rd party destination wedding planner. I had the same concern that you had with a delay in response. I'll tell you what she told me in the event that it helps you feel better. My coordinator has been doing this for years and told me that they are always slow to respond because they are focused on weddings that are a month or two away. She said that it doesn't mean ours aren't important, she's just being open and honest. She told me to plan everything that I wanted and she is certain that they will be able to accomodate to it. It made me feel a little better knowing that this is how everyone's weddings go. She has assured me that she has worked with this resort several times and this is just how it goes. Hope this helps!

Yup...I can understand your frustration. We had everyone book their rooms with our travel agent a year in advance for $50 and that held the price. We were really lucky we did that. Their were two people that waited last minute for everything and paid triple for everything. I felt so bad! Bridesmaids should definately get on it! :)

Getting married May 11, 2013 in the gazebo, reception on the beach.  For everyone that doesnt know this, because I didn't... the light up dancefloor is extra and is not included in the package.  I guess I just assumed with all the pictures that it was part of the beach experience.  The floor was quoted for $700.00.   If you do not choose the fancy lighting.. they do offer a regular wooden one.  We opted to spend the extra money since it looks like it provides such a unique ambiance.  Just an FYI for all the brides!  :)

Hey Everyone!

One of the bride (and her bridesmaids) bridal that I designed jewelry for was recently married at Dreams Cancun, so I thought you might all like to see the paradise where you'll be saying your "I Do's"!

Her Del Sol pics are phenomenal and they show a bit of the room where she and her bridesmaids are getting ready, the gazebo for the ceremony and her reception :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
