How exciting! : )

We didn't do a separate cocktail hour (we did one the night before instead) and just had the dinner function set up for three and half hours.  So I'm sure it could work, but I'm not sure how they set up additional furniture for the cocktail hour.  Maybe you could see if they could do the cocktail hour down on the beach or something (there will be an additional $6 per person set up for the beach location), and then have the dinner up at the terrace?

We wanted all of our tables set up on one side of the pool instead of 20 people on one side and 20 on the other since it felt weird without a dance floor in the middle, so you could get three tables set up on each side of the pool with the dance floor in the middle (below is a picture from another wedding I saw on here where they had a dance floor, so you can see how that looks.)

Wedding Reception

But I would probably suggest going with smaller set-ups for the lounge stuff.  You could let them give you suggestions for what would fit amongst everything else since there might be some random little areas that could fit a lounge area for four people and then a couple for six or whatever.  Larger sets of 10 might be a little too tight amongst all of the tables and the dance floor.  Another thing that was nice is that people obviously go up to the bar, so that's another full area that give people room to hang out. If you haven't already done it, I would definitely recommend doing some kind of additional lighting through Zuniga.  It's bright enough with the lighting up there, but it helps to give it softer light.  We went with 16 tiki torches, which we loved, but the lighting in the picture above with the dance floor looks so cool, and we saw a beach wedding with it too, and it looked great!

We went with the Mexican buffet since we figured that was the safest choice with appealing to a lot of people, and we really liked it!  It was different from what we had been eating all week (the only thing that was similar was the fajita meat, which was good : )), and a lot of people commented about how they loved it.  When we did the welcome cocktail hour the night before, we went with the International Hors d'oeuvre menu, and they were really good too.

We got our professional pictures back now, so here are a few more pictures where you can see the layout better.

You can see the entire empty side where you could set more tables up.

You can see the buffet behind them, which was set up all along the back-side where the two terraces connect, so it was perfect and out of the way.

Thank you for sharing all this great information.  We are getting married at at BP on the sky terrace Fe. 19th, 2012 which is right around the corner.  I still have so much to figure out!  From the sounds of it my Wedding Coordinator Janeesa was at your wedding also.  She said it was fabulous.  I am wondering if you hired a DJ and what you thought about that?  Looks like we have a very similar FUN group of people going and I want to make sure everyone has a great time, but the DJ at the resort is pretty spendy for 4 hours....although we are leaning that way so my groom can relax and not play DJ.  LOL  I really appreciate your advice!

Congrats! Your previous pictures look amazing- but I cannot view your professional pics, I don't know if it's just my computer that cannot view them or no one.  I would love to view your professional pics, if you have a link I can view! thanks! :)

Thanks! :)

We actually decided not to go with the DJ, so, unfortunately, I'm no help there.  We hired the mariachi band for the first 45 minutes, which lots of people danced to.  And then we just had our iPod playing in a docking station, and we just had lots of old-school laid-back music.  Then after we jumped in the pool and all needed showers, those who wanted to dance changed and headed out to karokee night at one of the bars in the hotel, and then we went out to Margaritaville.

Saric,

I had a question about the officiant you had at the ceremony. How were they? Did you have a special request eg. sand ceremony?

He was great!! I didn't get a chance to talk with him before the ceremony, but H did, and he really liked him.  He had a really smoothing and loud voice, so it was absolutely perfect.  We didn't do a sand ceremony or anything, but he did as H if he wanted to add a Mayan prayer/blessing, which we both loved.

    • OMG these are incredible! Seriously blown away by the thoughtful detail you have put into every aspect of your gifts, your guests are going to be amazed! Props to you for adding so many personal touches and putting in so much time to make these gifts amazing!
    • These bags are amazing!! You are so organized and detailed, I am so impressed! I LOVE the Vistaprint stuff you ordered, the logo is so cute, I love your personalization!
    • I love etsy!! It's a great place to find personalized gifts without such a hefty price tag. I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids personalized necklaces with their names on them. I found these ones that are affordable and you can pick the chain length and different fonts, so you can really make them your own and pick what you know each bridesmaid will want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/595334072/personalized-name-necklace-stainless?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=personalized necklace&ref=sc_gallery-3-9&plkey=a8662525c53ec285c1b46b0f308162d0591edff8:595334072
    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
