FINALLY!! After MONTHS AND MONTHS of emailing Marisol, with NO response, and after being switched between three "coordinators" who had NO idea what was going on... I have been contacted by DANIELA! She is WONDERFUL! My wedding is still 9 months away but someone has finally given me information and seems to actually care about me and my dream wedding!! AMAZING! The only frustrating part is that she has not been informed by any of my past "coordinators" about what I want at my wedding. It's like starting from scratch all over again. She even asked me what package I want!! How about the one I already put a $2,500 deposit on, 6 months ago?!?! Whatever, I don't even care, I blame it on the incompetent people I've been dealing with thus far. Things seem to finally be turning for the best! THANK GOODNESS!

@@LauraM - Oh I am jealous! I have Abril who started off okay, but it takes me about 2-3 emails to get 1 response from her. I'm also not sure we're having the same conversation haha... :S. I'm basically waiting to hear from the on-site coordinator, and just have everything ready to go

@@tygrrlily eeek hope things get better for you!! Can't say we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into trying to plan a wedding from so far away though, lol, we must be insane =)

OH and just an FYI to everyone else in the planning stages, because I was shocked by this, all BP payments (including vendors!) are apparently due 45 days prior to the wedding... this was a great relief to me and I wish someone had told me sooner - I was so worried about traveling into Mexico with that much $$

Who are people using for centerpieces/florals? I've gotten quotes from my WC (I'm assuming the in-house floral department?) and from Marvin of Maya Floral. Of course Marvin is the way better bang for buck, but I'm wondering if a day pass or vendor pass would be required for him? I'm 100% fine with paying a day pass for him to come in and set up, but I don't want to get hit with a $800 vendor pass - esp. since he'd only be there for not even an hour to set flowers up? Any advice/feedback on this?

Thanks!

@@tygrrlily I'm using Maya Floral for all of my flowers.  The quotes I was getting back from the resort were just way too much for the flowers I wanted.  I was going to compromise and pick less expensive flowers to avoid going with an outside vendor but with Maya I get the flowers I want and it was much cheaper.  Are you looking to do high centerpieces or low centerpieces?  I originally wanted high and low but that would mean they would need to come in and set up and then come back to take the flowers down.  Maya suggested to do low centerpieces and then I'll just send the groomsmen to the lobby to pick them up and they will put them on the tables.  This way we avoid them having to come in at all and having to pay any sort of outside fee.  The tall centerpieces although nice are also not so practical for the money since after the wedding no one can really take them home with them and enjoy them. I haven't even told my wedding planner about any of my outside vendors I'll handle that when I get to the resort and talk to my onsite planner.  Another florist that was reasonably prices was Flores Riviera Maya I ultimately chose Maya because of his fast response and flower choices I just felt like i was getting my money's worth.  He's providing flowers for rehearsal dinner, bouquets, bouts, corsages, centerpieces and petals for about the same price I was quoted for just bridal party flowers from the resort.

@@NJBride2014 - I agree - Marvin's quotes were really reasonable. I want high centerpieces which is why he'd have to come in to set up. I'm thinking now about switching them to low, but it's something I always envisioned and wanted.  He did tell me that he can drop low centerpieces off in the lobby, so it is something I am thinking about.  The picture examples he sent me are a lot more impressive than the ones the resort did

What type of tables and centerpieces are you getting? I have 4 round guest tables and wanted high centerpieces for them, then low ones for our rectangular head table

@@tygrrlily Yeah I know what you mean I always envisioned high ones too and really fell in love with the pics he sent me but ultimately its just flowers and I settled with the low ones just to make it easy I'll still get the same flowers I wanted but smaller.  I will also save money with the smaller centerpieces and guests can take them back to their room if they want.  I'm doing 5 round tables and a sweetheart table.   These are our centerpieces but with more coral and white flowers post-264077-0-68648000-1407251959_thumb.jpg  I really wanted something with orchids so this was great not too many orchids just a couple too keep the price down. These were the ones I loved. post-264077-0-59041100-1407251993_thumb.jpg.

These are gorgeous!! We're looking at something very similar, but with some darker pinks and corals as well. I love the touch of orchids in there

I'm going to really mull over the low vs. high centerpieces now. We were originally thinking to use the high ones to decorate the aisle of our ceremony as well which is why I was able to justify the price. Hrm... I would have to come up with something else. I really hate these vendor fees argh

Yeah the vendor fees are a killer, I'm paying for day passes for my photographers, and a night at the hotel for both my DJ and videographer and having the flowers dropped off all to avoid vendor fees. lol It's like a game trying to see how to pay the cheapest fee to get the vendors you actually want.  I would have gone with the resort vendors but honestly they were very expensive, communication wasn't the best and the quality just didn't match to what I could find outside of the hotel. So even if i end up paying what I would have paid for their vendors at least I know I got the best and it was the vendor I wanted and didn't settle for theirs just because that was the only option.  It is my wedding after all so I didn't want to settle.  haha I mean our wedding....my fiance is just as picky as me and didn't like any of the hotel vendors.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
