I thought the prices for the photobooth were on the high side.  Especially since I keep getting Living Social deals for photobooth rentals here in the states for dirt cheap.  LOL.

It is a little on the high side but I can see my guests really enjoying the photo booth and we have some credit we can use on it since we went to the 3 day site preview.  Would be nice to find a Living Social deal that would work in mexico haha.

Yes, because I fought them on this.  There was no way I was letting them get away with the 'ol switch-a-roo.

I had tons of emails stating they were going to charge me $500 so they had no choice but to give it to me for the price they originally said.

Hmmm... I need to go back and look at my emails and see if I can find anything where they quote $500 vendor fee I've only seen $800 that I can remember. I booked last June so I'm not sure when the vendor fee prices changed. If I can find where it says $500 I'll definitely fight them on it.  These fees are really eating into my budget.

This thread has been really helpful! I'm in the process of booking my Dec 2014 wedding here and hoping to finalize the date this week!  I've been looking at the different vendors and reading through old threads, and it seems they keep changing who their preferred vendors are as well which makes it difficult to keep track of!

This is who I have recorded so far that are preferred vendors (no additional vendor fees), with a few alternatives that have good rates. Is this correct? Are there any others?

Makeup/Hair - Styling Trio

DJ - PSAV, JSAV

(Alt) DJ Doremixx

Flowers/Decor - Grupo Gama, Zuniga?

(Alt) Planner 1

Also a question. I know before some people have booked rooms for their photographer - Is BP still allowing this or is there a minimum of nights required? Also, is the $800 vendor fee inclusive of the whole vendor group (eg. photographer and assistant), or is it per person??

New question for everyone:

What menus are you choosing for Cocktail hour and Reception?

I have a phone conversation booked with my coordinator tomorrow for 9am so I am trying to get organized but am still flip flopping on some decisions like this.  I cant believe I am already 30 days out!   This year of planning went by SO darn fast.

Also is anyone planning a welcome dinner? We have one booked for the night we arrive on the Palenque terrace (was originally booked for the infinity deck but the hotel couldnt confirm that there wouldnt be nightly entertainment going on on the big screen....lol!  How terrible would that be if there was a movie playing during the dinner.

I only have 30 people so I feel a dinner on the Palenque is going to be too tiny for such a huge space....but I really didnt want to do it up on the skydeck because the reception is up there two days later....decisons decisons!

Since I don't qualify for unlimited free private events, we opted out of the cocktail hour.  I was not going to pay $600 for a cocktail hour that consisted of bar food.  The down time from the ceremony into the reception is only about 1.5 hr so my guests can hang out by the hotel bar and grab some drinks

In regards to the reception dinner, we are paying for the plated dinner options and not the buffet. We didn't like any of the options.  So instead we paid extra for platted diners of 3 entrees.  Chicken, beef, and fish.

My welcome dinner is the free dinner reservation which I was entitled too, so I'm doing it at the Tequila Restaurant since my group size is small enough.  We didn't qualify for a free welcome dinner based on our total room nights, and I didn't want to pay extra for a private dinner

My WC is allowing me to book just one night instead of the 3 night minimum you should speak with your WC and see if this is an option for you.

Also this is what my WC regarding the vendor fee  "The vendor fee includes the dinner and small table for them. Dj+ 1 assistance or videographer + 1 assistance."

Again I would double check everything with your WC because people get conflicting information and its always good to have everything down in an email so you have proof.

Do you happen to have Styling Trio's brochure with prices? I would ask my planner but i'll probably have to wait weeks for it. lol

Yes I will talk to a WC once I get my date locked down! But that's good to know about what the vendor fee includes

I do - let me PM it to you now

Would you mind sending it to me too? I am getting married in December and haven't even thought about hair and makeup yet!

Sure sending it now. What date are you getting married in December? And are you at the BP? I'm right now trying to finalize everything, but we're running into all of these obstacles! We're looking at the 16 or 17th right now

Hi!

I am having the Mexican Hors D'Oeuvres for the Cocktail and Buffect Mexicano for reception.

Side Note:

I am also having a playlist with no DJ. Do you have a playlist you created already?

Thank you!

Ladies,

35 days to go and I feel like I still have so much undone. So, here is what I have so far:

May 12th- Bachelorette cocktails on the Infinity Terrace from 8pm -10pm and then looking into CunCrawl

May 13th- Welcome Dinner ( family arrives this day) Infinity Terrace from 7pm- 10pm - Mexican Buffett- Ipod Deck for Music (keeping it simple) might give our welcome bags here since I was told, they can't already put them in the rooms prior to arrival

May 14th- Wedding Day- Ceremony at the Roof  Top Sky Terrace at 4:30pm ( flowers from Maya and then transferring them for my centerpieces) Ipod for the Music, chandelier, aisle runner, fans

Cocktail Hour - from 6PM -7PM -Sky Terrace ( I know my group takes a lot of pictures so I didn't want to rush anyone to get to the cocktail)

Reception: 7pm - 10pm in the Palenque terrace, Italian  ( I extended an hour)

Music from PSAV

Flowers from Maya

Tiffany Chairs

White Silk Tablecloths

Photo booth

lighting under the tables

paper lanterns

I'm doing my own make -up since that's what I do for a living and I'm debating to get my hair done at the hotel. It's so humid it would probably fall in seconds if I try anything.

anything I could be missing?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
