I asked if day passes could be used for photogs or makeup artisits. She stated that it was allowed in 2013 is no longer possible in 2014. I just asked everything up front because i didnt want there to be any surprises when i get my bill.

Were you speaking with someone at Beach Palace or just Palace Resorts in general?.....My travel agent just spoke with Beach Palace this week and confirmed the outside vendor fee for my date in 2014 is $500 and my photographer will only need to pay day pass.

I did the same.  I asked straight out.

The people I've been communication with (Kalena and Alejandra) are with Palace Resorts not specifically to Beach Palace.

How did your travel agent get involved?  Aren't they only limited to travel arrangements and not wedding politics?

Well that's great news.  Good for you.  B/c this back and forth is driving me NUTS!

Make sure you're TA gets in all in writing and not just a verbal confirmation.

I just sent BP an email requesting that they email me a Palace contract stating these new 2014 charges, b/c they can't just come out of the clear blue sky and makeup prices whenever they feel like it

Totally agree, I hate how nothing is constant.
Now you have me concernd though....I just emailed my TA to make sure she sends me a copy of the email communication.  She better not just be slacking off and going off old info....I woukldnt put it past her, she has been a huge pain in my ass

This is totally off topic but we are booked with Sunwing Vacations and at first when I was in the initial stages of planning I was going to not use a Travel Agent and jsut handle it all myself (Being the Group Booking Contact)...I got a quote from Sunwing and all looked good..to top it off they had a "every 11th person booked is free" deal so that potentially meant my fiance and I would be getting our trip covered if we had enough people.  Then I decided it was a bit much to take on the booking stuff myself so I hired my Travel Agent....Well I spoke to her numerous times about the "Every 11th person free" deal and making sure we paid the deposits in time to snag the deal.....Well we did book in time and I even brought it up again within the last few months.  Suddenly a few weeks ago I was chatting with her and brough up how we get our deposits refunded later since we had enough people to make use of the deal...."Oh, you know its only the 11th person not every 11th".  She was totally WRONG since I even had the Sunwing quote handy. Well apparently she says that Sunwing sometimes doesnt offer the same deals and booking with them directly and that the deal she is able to make use of is only the 11th person, not every 11th!  WTF....Friggen hell, I would have totally would have taken on the group booking role if I knew it was going to save myself $2000!  I am so mad.  Sorry for the rant, had to get that off my chest because talking about my travel agent reminded me all about it.  Arg!

So sorry to hear you're dealing with that.  This whole process can be so frustrating and overwhelming.  Can you pull out and get another TA?

My TA has been nothing short of AMAZING.  I got her from referrals on this forum.  Her name is Wendy Hicks from Wright Travel Agency

This is only the beginning.  I see you're getting married only 1 week after me.  We still have a long time away.  If your TA is giving you wrong information now, I sure hope she does't make matters worse during actual booking of your guests.  I'll keep my fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.

I am communicating with the Palace Sales Team, I have not been put in contact with my WC yet. Rocio, with the sales team said this is the policy for 2014 and that was her direction from her management. Just to be safe, I am going to bank on having to pay the $800, and hope that my WC tells me different. We'll see... so frustrating how they are so inconsistent!

Agreed.  Brides bring in so much money to these resorts.  They DO NOT want us on their bad side.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
