We are going to go ahead and do the room block. Quick question, when I received the special early booking rates the rates were listed as ‘Single Occupancy, Double Occupancy, Triple Occupancy, etcâ€. If our guests are coming and bringing a date, that means double occupancy? Just curious why it wouldnâ€t be a flat rate regardless if you have a king or double bed and with 2 or 4 people.

Any help, clarification is appreciated.

Stacie

Hi Stacie,

Yes for two people, the it would be the double occupancy rate per person in the room. You pay more for more people in the room bc that rate includes the all inclusive. So you would be paying the extra for the extra food and drinks of the other people in your room. The bed in the room shouldn't change the rate

Kristie,

Are you doing any other events during the week? Like night before, welcome dinner/cocktails or anything? Did you, JK?

I was thinking about doing a welcome dinner or cocktails the night before, but I didn't want it to feel too much like the reception without music/dancing/decor so I was kinda debating... guess it would be a way to try another menu though :)

Thoughts?

We had my bachelorette party - CunCrawl- so much fun HIGHLY recommend on Wednesday, Rehersal/ Welcome Dinner on Thursday and wedding on Friday!  The welcome dinner did not feel like a reception since there was no music, but it was a good way to get everyone together and aquainted before the wedding! We have 40 people at our wedding!

I think we are going to do a welcome cocktail for the night we arrive at the resort. But my wedding planner said it had to be on the infinity terrace - I am waiting on a response for where the infinity terrace is- does any body know? Is that the same as the south or north terrace? I just dont want it to be in the same spot as my reception- i think it woud take away from the wedding reception.

Thanks, Shan!

Thanks basically my exact timeline too! We are doing my bachelorette Wednesday, welcome something (cocktail or dinnner) Thursday, and wedding on Friday. I don't want people to feel like I am dominating their entire trip, if they want to go out on their own and try some restaurants or whatever, they can so I might just do cocktails or something, but I am leaning towards a dinner to give everyone time to mingle and get to know each other.

Thanks for the recommendations on CunCrawl - I will have my MOH look into it! Did your groom do his bach party that night too? What did they do?

Has anyone ever seen silk flower bouquets? I'm seriously thinking of ordering 6 of these ivory/purple silk bouquets off this website I found for all my bridesmaids, instead of paying $100+ for each real flower bouquet through the hotel. I think that price is ridiculous. The silk bouquets are only $35.00 each, and I was thinking each bridesmaid could carry their own in their suitcase to Mexico. I may just order one to see what they look like, but I was just wondering what you guys thought? Do you think it will look tacky?

Also, I chose to have the live saxophone player for the ceremony. I was wondering what you guys are doing RE: music for the ceremony? I was thinking of providing the saxophone player music sheets of the music I would like him to play, so he doesn't just player whatever he wants. Kenny G is one of my favorite saxophone players I may print his music and give it to the musician. What song are you planning on walking down the aisle to? Maybe the traditional "Here comes the bride" song? Or will you have a different song play? Decisions decisions...

They silk bouquets are a good idea. Espically for savings money. You just have to decide want you want most, to save money or have real flowers. If the silk flowers are made well they will still look great in your photos. I have made silk bouquets for some of my friends weddings and they turned out really well. I would say go ahead and order the one you like so you can decide.

I am using realtouch flowers for my bouquet and my 5 bridesmaids. Check out http://www.bloombridal.com/ They do an amazing job! A little more expensive then your silk flowers but still much cheaper then what the resort charges. I persoanlly like the idea that i get to keep my bouquet forever! How special! I think ordering a sample is a good idea! So you know what you are getting!

As for the ceremony music, i am just going to bring songs on my ipod (actually they make you out them on a cd for the ceremony) Bringing your own music is a good idea, but you would probably want to make sure the saxophone player is familar with the songs. It could be  diaster if he/she is attempting a new song for your wedding. Just something to think about!  Let us know what you decide

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
