Brooke...

It was cheaper to have the photographer stay at the hotel for a night ($300 vs. $500). My photog was awesome and split the price with me. I'll take $150 over $500 any day.

Hey guys,

I was just reading over your posts regarding Beach Palace weddings and the photographer fee.

I put my deposit down on the Pearl Shimmer package at the Beach Palace for July 12th, 2013. My wedding planner was quick to email me. Her name is Margarita and she seems really great. She told me there is not fee anymore to have an outside vendor (hoorary! No $500.00 fee!)- however you do have to pay your photogs day pass fee of $91.00, but hey that's a lot better than $500.00

The Pearl Shimmer package comes with Photo Package A with Ocean Photo Studio (they're the company who shoots your photos if you go with what the hotel wedding packages offer). I've looked up their website and it looks pretty good. Photo Package A comes with pics of the ceremony and a small session post ceremony on the beach, of you and your new hubby/wife. You can also upgrade this package to include whatever you want, for additional fees.

I have questions RE: group contract and receptions.

I think I'm going to pay $300.00 per table for the reception once I know how many guests I have. I'm expecting 30+. How does the music work for the reception? I'm thinking of renting a dance floor, but don't think a DJ is necessary. I just want a mircrophone and speakers, so we can play our own music. I hope this won't cost me too much!

Also, I decided to not sign the group contract because I know it's more affordable for my guests to book through websites such as travelocity rather than through the hotel directly. I was told if my guests all book through the same website, I can still get the free private functions and cocktail hours depending on how many nights are booked. I know Beach Palace is a bit smaller than some of the other hotels, so I'm a little worried that by not signing up with a group contract I don't have any rooms blocked off. Does the hotel fill up quickly? Should I go ahead and book my trip through the hotel instead so I can block off rooms?

Please help!

Mucho gracias,

Nicole

It is actually not true about booking through the same site to get the free amenities.

I just had a call with the COO of Palace Resorts yesterday and he said they were enforcing the rules that bookings needed to be made through a group block to get the amenities.  The group contract actually has it written into the contract the amenities that you can get.

I am sure from reading through the forum, that some brides that did not get things in writing or better yet written in a contract were in trouble down the line.  You can risk it, but it is the choice you are taking so you have been forewarned.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
