So I have been toying with the idea of scrapping formal invitations and just mailing all our guests a short dvd of FI and I inviting them to our wedding. I got the idea when I was thinking of ways to make our STD's more creative, but then I started studying for the bar and completely forgot about it.

FI and I thought it would be really cute to do a short (maybe 5 minutes) video. We met in high school 7 years ago and both our parents still live in that town so we thought we would start the video there, then film a little in Atlantic City (where we "met" for the second time) and eventually started dating. We would finish up in our apartment in Boston... I just really want to do something personal and fun that would make our guests laugh :)

Opinions, suggestions, criticisms... is this a stupid idea?

I have never heard of this before. It is def original. I think it is a cool idea. I think if I got it in the mail though, I might be too lazy to stick it in the DVD player. I usually open my mail over the trashcan and under the calendar (to write whatever I need to).

I know that is horrible, esp since I am putting so much thought into my own invites, but that's how I open my mail!

Maybe if you included a letter (or DVD label) to state what it is, you might get someone like me quicker to my DVD player...

Do you have a DVD burner? Otherwise, it could get expensive. I think it sounds really cute. I'd include something written too for people without DVD players.

I think its a great idea. I have never heard of it before, but I love it. I also think you should include a label and a letter telling everyone to watch it, but I would totally run to watch it. So, I say go for it.

I think it's a great idea! You could decorate the package really cute. I would probably include a little card also with the date/info. I'm finding that people are lame.. sorry but they are. If they can't even drop a postcard in the mail that already has a stamp on it, they may not write down the important info like which date to save. :)

How many of them are you sending?

You could actually add music files to the dvd too and make it a keepsake for people..

I know what you mean. I don't understand why people can't RSVP. I return those things before I even drive away from the mail box.

Have you used Movie maker before? That might be useful for editing your video. I started a thread about how to use it.

I was thinking we would put a DVD label with our names, wedding date, and location. Also, we will probably include a really inexpensive invitation (that I will print at home) with the basic invitation information (date, place, time, parents' names, etc)

I actually have a DVD burner so I am going to give it a try myself first. I will definitely check out the threads about the movie maker program. However, if it turns out that I am clueless, FI's parents have a friend who does this kind of stuff so we may ask for his help. Invitations are something FI and I are paying for ourselves, so we have a pretty decent budget (up to $15 each).

I will be sending out 90 invitations

I don't know if this is just another one of my crazy ideas, but I think it could be a really cute personal way of inviting our guests to our wedding. I have a good amount of family flying in from Israel for it, so I thought it would make them feel special to "hear" the invitation in hebrew (FI has been working on his hebrew for almost a year now).

    • It’s been years... and I’m now searching for the same in Montego Bay or Negril. Did anyone ever have any luck finding?
    • Hello, I'm new to this site. I got engaged already and get married by next year. I have some doubts regarding our dating destination. Hope you will help me. Thank You!
    • Hello everyone,
Well, this upcoming valentine's day is special for me because I got engaged and planning to spend the day with my fiance. I'm planning to give her an ethical jumpsuit.

Other than that I have been searching the internet for some nice discounted coupons and searched among my friends and found different sites. Now, we are looking forward to that wonderful day. We searched a lot and found out, Escape The City. Orangeville is a great place for a day trip or weekend gateway from Toronto.
Theatre Orangeville is offering a weekend package that includes 2 tickets to a Live performance at the theatre, Premium Overnight Accommodations at Best Western Plus Orangeville Inn and Suites and $75 Downtown Wine and Dine Voucher which is valid at select Downtown restaurants, and Free Entry to the scenic Trails & Bridges of Island Lake.

We are so excited and eagerly waiting for that day.
If anyone has got any other suggestions for the venue, kindly share your thoughts/ideas.
      Thank You!

    • Please tell me, the best wedding venue in Saskatoon, SK.
    • Hey everyone! Like the others here, I'm interested in wedding reception, venue and all related steps & stuff. Starting with my first and the most important note is that we're international couple and we need to think of bilingual wedding. So the first thing we need to think of is whether it will be interpretation or 2 different venue coordinators, sermons and stuff? What is your experience, what could be the best and affordable solution? From googling the issue I've found this Interactio app team ( describing possible solution here  http://blog.interactio.io/case-study-weddings )Basically they offer to hold the venue in the main language, additionally providing simultaneous interpretation online to other quest's mobile phones. Looks like really easy and creative idea. What about the others? How did you solve this kind of obstacle? Any additional advises would be very welcomed here
