Has anyone recently visited BARCELO PUNTA CANA?

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

I have also been looking to book my wedding in Dominican March 2013 and was looking into Bavaro Punta Cana. I do not want my guests to have to pay more than 1600/person for a week and every other resort I look into is almost 2000 (for march)....but I just looked at the reviews on trip advisor for this resort and they scare me!!! I have a couple young kids coming and that is one reason I liked this resort, for the childrens pool and playground...so I hope someone replies with lots of positive things to say about this resort...I will also look into Bavara Palace and Gran Bahia principe bavaro.....

Hello Ladies please send me ANY info on these resorts the Barcelo and the Bahia principe.. my email address is [email protected]

Right now we are considering holding our reception in Kukua Beach club, and probably just hold a welcome dinner with our guests at the resort.. These resorts are all beautiful and would love to hold the wedding there, but at the same time I dont like the fact that some are not letting us decide, and do what we want, i want to be free to have any outside vendors, until whatever time I want etc.

these two resorts are within walking distance to Kukua, also can you please send me the Contacts for each.. thanks,

Hi Trivera, sorry maybe I should have read more closely! That had me second guessing myself for a second, I e-mailed Ariana just to reconfirm! :)

We are doing a private dinner right on the beach for $30/pp. Is is plated! The menu she attached had steak & lobster for the main course. I am not a fan of lobster at all and I know a lot of our guests are not into seafood so I asked if there was an alternative menu and she said that once we get down there we can basically design the menu to our liking! She will also print up menu cards for each place setting. Again you can opt for the buffet which is included in the package prices. The dance part of it will take place in an open air gazebo near by. The only minor issue is we have about 60 guests coming and Ariana is thinking the gazebo might be a bit tight so we may have to move that to the theatre.

We are actually just going to be taking our ipod which we will make a huge play list for the night. You can rent an ipod dock and speaker sound systems. The reason we opted to go that route is because I spoke with a bride who got married at the Barcelo last year and she did not recommend the dj, she said he didn't have any current music it was all older stuff. We figure this way we can control exactly what is played :) Hope that answered all your questions!

Barcelo Punta Cana (WC: Arianna) do allow outside photographers with a $50 pass. Unless of course your package includes it. Kswereda where are you doing your reception and what did you decide for food? Are you allowed choices or is it a fixed menu where everyone eats the same thing? Also, is it plated or buffet? Oh sorry one more thing what did you do for a DJ?

Stacy where are you guys flying from? I do know that March is spring break so prices may be a bit on the higher side. I to am trying to keep my guests under $1000 from Thurs-Sunday. We are flying from NYC and at this point based on May 2012 airfare and hotel prices for 2013 the Barcelo Bavaro Palace is $780, Barcelo Punta Cana $677, Ocean Blue and Sand $747, and Melia Caribe $904. Just to give you a better idea. I guess I just feel like Barcelo Punta Cana is just too cheap and that worries me in consideration to other resorts if that makes sense. I am meeting with Arianna in 2 weeks so will be able to tell you guys first hand!

She e-mailed me about a week ago, I sent one right back asking another question and she hasn't answered me either yet. Maybe she is on vacation or something? She usually is fairly quick to respond!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
