Has anyone recently visited BARCELO PUNTA CANA?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!!

Our wedding is May 17, 2013. We are considering Barcelo Punta Cana mostly because of the inexpensive pricing and secondly because it is family oriented.

Has anyone visited this resort or any Barcelo resort for that matter lately?

Thanks,

Tamara

Hello Tamara

I have not recently visited the Barcelo in Punta Cana, however I was there in Aug. 2007.

I quite enjoyed my stay there. The beach is stunning and the night life is great!

In my opinion, a perk of holding a DW at this resort is that there are a few resorts on the same property. There are different levels and therefore would be more accommodating to a group of guests who have varying budgets. They also have a "stay and play" program. This means that people staying in the highest category have access to all the restuarants and bars on the property! Great for families, singles and older folks alike. :)

On a side note, our agency was visited by our Barcelo sales rep about a month back and she took us through all of the renovations and upgrades that have been made over the last little while. There have been some definite improvements since I stayed there and I enjoyed it at the time, so I expect the quality would be even higher now.

Just make sure you do your research to ensure that it has all of the ammentities that you want to have for your group. If you need help comparing resorts I highly recommend that you enlist the assistance of a TA. Usually they will be able to offer first hand advice and/or have gone through training about various properties in various destinations.

Happy Planning!!

Hi Tamara

I myself been looking into this resort for our destination wedding as well.  We were actually set on the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro and then came across this resort which is very comparable and similar and definitely more cost efficient and more family oriented.

Not sure if you had made any contact with the resort as of yet, However I was contacted by a wedding coordinator by the name of Ariana Fernandez and is extremely helpful and informative.

I can also send you some information and current pricing packages that I was recently sent as well.  You also have options of renting out the disco and or restaurants for more of the private event.  I found everything and all and most major things to be included, there was just little things like chair and sashes and what not included but that is always something you can negotiate when over there

If you have anything that you can pass on as well, would be great.

Hope that helps a little

Samantha

Thanks ladies! @ Samantha thanks! I to have been in touch with Arisnna shes a big help and very much on top of thing. Have you looked at Barcelo Bavaro Palace? it's a step above Barcelo Punta Cana.  It's absolutely worth looking into just as resonantly priced for both weddings and guest.  I am doing site visits next month and plan to come back with a full review!

My wedding is going to be on May 4th, 2013 and I am thinking of having my wedding there as well. I am now terrified because I went on TripAdvisor and some people love and some HATE IT! The things that they hated scares me!  When you get back from your trip next month, PLEASE post pictures so that we can see what it is like. The only other thing (and I don't know how common this is there), but they don't allow to you bring in your own photographer!  I read some of the posts on here and found a few good photographers and the hotel won't let you bring in anyone external- which I thought was really weird.  Maybe all of these things can be worked out, can't wait to see what you bring back!

I absolutely will!! As I previously mentioned, have you looked into Barcelo Palace Deluxe? I to have been turned off by the reviews at Barcelo Punt Cana. I know you cant make everyone happy but the complaints seem to the same pretty much across the board. And they havent gotten any better to date. For my guests in May 2013 the difference per night from Barcelo Punta Cana and Barcelo Bavaro Palace is a matter of $30 and the reviews are soo much better and the grounds that much nicer/prettier.  As far as the photographers are concerned. Most resorts are contracted with a particular company and then they charge you a vendor fee if you choose to use someone other then "their" photographer. I am also looking at PPC and their fee is $125 compared to Ocean Blue which is $50. All that to say the fees vary from resort to resort. I have an email into Arianna (Barcelo Punta Cana) and Marlene (Barcelo Palace Deluxe) about the fees. As soon as I hear back I will let you know.

Good Morning Ladies ..

After seeing pictures and reading reviews, Barcelo Punta Cana is defintiely a nice place and definitely worth the price but since I am more of a pickie bride and want the best looking, I have decided on the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro.  When adding in all the extra's for Barcelo, it actually adds up to be more for the wedding packages.  Gran Bahia has A LOT more included in their packages.  But Ariana makes your experience worthwhile looking into.  But I have to keep remembering ... We only get married once and we are going for a OUR WEDDING and not a vavation ...lol .. so GRAN BAHIA PRINCIPE BAVARO PUNTA CANA  it is ...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
