Hello Dainfamouswen

Congratulations on your engagement. I think it's so nice that even though you and your fiance are obviously committed and have built a life together, that you still want to have a wedding and share that with your family! & Dominican Republic is beautiful, I have stayed in Punta Cana and loved it!

When planning a destination wedding I highly recommend enlisting the services of a travel agent who specializes in DWs. There are so many choices of resorts to stay at and which one you choose really depends on what you are looking for. By going through a TA they will be able to find out what it is you want for your day and what your budget is for you and your guests, and then they will be able to suggest resorts based on what suits your groups needs best. There is a lot to do in terms of finding resorts, negotiating group contracts and organizing all the travel for your guests. Not to mention the wedding itself, if you truly want to enjoy the process I would suggest finding someone to alleviate all that stress for you.

As far as ideas for resorts go, I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach and quite enjoyed my stay. There are a few different hotels on the same property and they range in quality and price. This might be a good place to start because assuming you have guests with different budgets and interests, the Barcelo will be able to accommodate a variety of people. There are many other lovely resorts in Dominican to choose from that it really just depends on what you are looking for.

Hope I was able to lend a little bit of insite, feel free to ask any further questions.

Happy Planning!!

They have a lot of resorts that are kid friendly and/or let your kids stay free.  My best advice is work with a travel agent, and don't go overboard on the extra's.  We are just doing one of the restaurant's on the resort for dinner, because it's included, and then hitting the night club after...will save a bundle on not having a reception and everyone is ok with it  :)

Welcome! For us choosing the location was by far the hardest part of everything.  We did tons of research on tons of resorts.  We also made a list of what we wanted ina  resort (size, location, amenities, cost, wedding packages offered ect.)  From there we were able to make our decision.  Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
