That is fantastic that she said you can send stuff there.  Thank God!  What is everyone doing for a rehearsal dinner?  Instead of a dinner, I think we are going to do a cocktail party but I'm still unsure if we should go off the resort or not.  I'm hoping to negotiate with Ana so that we don't have to pay $500 for a private function plus drinks and apps.

I'm going to have a "welcome dinner" on Thursday night in the main restaurant that's buffet and Ana advised she would have a section for my group for no charge. We're going to most likely do the same thing for the Rehearsal dinner, because we have close to 75 people coming and paying $20-30/per person for that as well as the wedding is a lot of $$$$  -

That might be a good option for you as well?

  • 2 weeks later...

i have a question regarding the marriage requirements.  You have to be in Mexico 4 days prior to getting married.  Can you get married on the 4th day or it has to be 4 full days prior?? What day are your guests departing?  We're trying to figure out when the best day to leave is, we are thinking Sunday and getting married on friday.

Hi there!

I'm not sure if you could get married on that 4th day or not, but I would send a quick email to your wedding coordinator on that.

We are arriving Sunday and not getting married until Saturday so we don't run into that problem.

Email you WC and she should be able to answer that for you : )

Im pretty sure you can! i am arriving on the sunday and getting married on the thursday but we are doing a symbolic ceremony (the reason for the wait it because you are waiting for the results of the blood work.. so i dont know if we can do it that day because it is symbolic) One thing to remember about the 4 days is that the 4 days cant be weekends or holidays... so sunday wouldnt count as a day..... im pretty sure thats how it works, but again your best bet is to ask the wc!

I got some information on the dinner i thought i would share with you ladies!!

I asked the WC if we could give options for dinner, without doing a buffet this is what she said:

Can we offer a choice of entres for the guests.. would that be an extra cost?

You can offer their choice for dinner, for the main entrée only 2 options, the additional cost is $ 30 usd per person; the other option is a head of time you can let me know how many people will eat one option and how many people will eat the other option only for the main course

If i ask ahead of time what choice of entre they would prefer..would i still have to pay the additional 30?

If you let me know in advance how many people will eat one option and how many people will eat the other option, there is not an additional charge, and only for the main course

In terms of planning the menu, can i mix the choices? Take the starter from one and the dessert from the other? Can i use the dessert from the Eternity menu? Is there a cost to do this?

Yes you are able to mix and match, but is must to be set menú

Also i was wondering if there is a kids menu... if so what is it and what is the cost?

The kid menu: fruit cocktail, cheese burger, chicken fingers, spaghetti, and ice cream, there is not an additional for this menu

Also i have a friend or two that are vegitarian... is there a vegetarian option for the whole meal? cost?

Yes there is an option for vegetarian menú, it is the same cost as a regular menu

Hope this helps!

Hello ladies,

My wedding is at Now Jade in 15 days! I thought I might have some info that would be of interest to those of you in your planning stages. We chose the Divine wedding package.

Food/Meals

  • We were able to offer our guests a choice of two entrees for dinner, and got the numbers to Ana 1.5 months ahead of time. There was no additional charge for this.
  • We were also able to mix and match the courses from the various menus in the planning book (from both the divine and eternity menus)
  • There is a vegetarian option and a gluten-free option available at the same cost as a regular meal.
  • Children's meal is half the price of adult meal
  • For our 'rehearsal' we are doing a lunch. Ana told us we can't make a reservation without paying the $500 'event fee' but she told us that she would let the captin at the restaurant know we are coming and that they will try to accomodate us. We are doing a rehearsal lunch at Castaways at 11:30.
  • For a welcome evening we are doing drinks and some appy's in the Lobby Bar, but it will not be a private event
  • We were able to extend our cocktail hour to 2 hours (gives us more time for photos without guests having nothing to do) and paid for extra appy's so there would be enough food (we chose appys from both Divine and Eternity menus)

Ceremony

  • We are having our ceremony on the beach, with music from our iPod
  • Ana is arranging for somebody to run our bubble machine at the end of the ceremony during the recessional

Vendors

  • We are bringing photographers from home
  • The photographer included in our wedding package will be doing a photo shoot with some of our friends on a different day. Ana scheduled this for us
  • We are not using a minister/judge (had a legal ceremony at home, having a friend marry us in mexico)
  • Ana is letting us 'Swap' the minister for an extra hour of videography, we are paying only $100 for this additional hour.
  • We are getting flowers from the resort's florist (bride bouquet, groom bout, corsages for mothers, centerpiece for head table, combining the flowers from the groomsmen bouts for additional flowers on the ceremony table - Ana also said they will use the dinner centerpiece here as well). Our bridesmaids bouquets are realtouch flowers we are bringing from home, groomsmen will not have flowers.
  • We are using the resort DJ only during dinner (2 hours). We are not having a dance and will just go to the 'club' at the resort for dancing after dinner. We have not been in touch with the DJ at all yet, not sure if we will do this before we arrive or not
  • We booked appointments at the spa for hair/makeup for the whole bridal party and mothers. Whoever answers the spa email is amazingly helpful and accomodating, and let me change the schedule four times (email [email protected] )
  • FI wants to hire the fire dancers to perform at the reception; we will book this when we arrive. Ana quoted us $800 for this

Other

  • Our wedding contract shows that cocktail hour includes Tiki Torches (if possible) and a welcome tequilla shot (for everyone I am assuming) that I hadn't heard about before
  • We have the terrace tentatively booked for the reception but Ana said since our wedding is a Tuesday and nobody else is getting married that day we can choose a final location once we get there (also considering the pool deck...)

Let me know if there are any questions I might be able to answer for you, and I will be sure to post a thorough review when we get home! Our wedding date is November 8th.

Hi Ladies

I am also a NOW Jade bride! I've been on the July 2012 Now Jade Bride forum, but just come over to read what is going on with other Now Jade brides.

So far this is what I'm doing...

I am definitely getting someone to go out and get the flowers for me. The good thing is that I have well traveled friends who wont be overwhelmed by the task... Side note - I just came across some flower arrangements were the vase is a moss purse or basket. I've been trying to figure out how to stay away for the glass vases - and I think I found it!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
