We want to get married on the beach. As for the dinner after, are you able to have a "dancing area" there? So we could do everything in the restaurant? We actually didn't do a package. We just did the free wedding package since we had enough people and then figured we would add in whatever we wanted. Thanks for the help!!!

how much of the planning have you done with the resort as of now? We have our deposits in and now we wait??

They only reach out to you like 2 months before your wedding, but if you have any questions, definetely ask them, just don't expect a quick answer (could take a week).

We had 120 people and did a beach wedding + filled up the left half of the Tapatio restaurant, so it was closed off for us (no one dined in the right half) so we had tables along the perimeter of the restaurant with the inside being dance floor space. The food it set up in the middle area between the two "halves" of the restaurant, so guests go there for the appetizers and dessert & entrees are served by waiters.

I recommend calculating the individual costs of the things you want out of the bigger package to see if it's really cost effective to pick and choose...some of the perks are actually very nice to have on your wedding night...also once you're there, ask them if you can upgrade to the wedding suite a day early or stay a day later, if it's not being used, they might let you stay for longer and TRUST ME...you WANT to stay longer, it's incredible!!!! Also, checking out at like 12pm the day after your wedding to go back to your room is brutal.

So glad I can help :)

We actually brought our own DJ from the states, he brought a microphone as a backup, but the resort provided one too. If you hire a DJ there, they probably bring all their own equipment, but since we had our own DJ we rented the equipment (the hotel has vendors so we just told them what we need and they provided it....if you want to save some money you can do this research in advance and contact local vendors directly and either pick it up from them or maybe they can bring it over, but we did this too late so they were already busy or just didn't respond...that's a major thing to keep in mind... no one is in a hurry lol, except our photographer "Ivan Luckie", he was incredible, responded to most questions within minutes (or hours, at the most).

Hi ladies!  I am planning a November 2013 wedding and am very interested in the Iberostar Resorts!  I have a million questions!

How did you ladies decide on your resort choice?

Where will you hold your ceremony?

How many guests?

Will you be doing a semi-private dinner/ or private dinner (beach or restaurant)?

Did you hire dj services for dancing or rent sound system equipment for the reception?

I have signed up with destinationweddings.com and my wedding consultant is amazing! Her name is Terri Smith and I love her!  My problem is deciding on a resort that has the best wedding/reception options without killing our budget.  We want to keep it on the lower end because we are both finishing our schooling and have a 17 month-old daughter.  I would love any of your suggestions and further input!

I highly recommend reading most of the previous entries in this blog because it will answer most of the questions you have posed and give additional information around these questions.

I also highly recommend decided ASAP because the closer you get to Thanksgiving, the faster they get booked (I booked in January for a Nov 23 wedding).

We decided on Iberostar Paraiso because from what we saw, it had the best combination of package price/per person price and hotel quality. We had a 120 person wedding and wanted a large resort with a lot of things to do and Iberostar is perfect for that. I also heard from a LOT of people who have stayed here that it's one of their favorites.

They have 3 price categories in the same hotel complex so that appeals to those guests who want high-end accomodations as well as more afforadable ones - they're all great!

We decided on Iberostar because of the response to emails. Also they do a wedding once a day not every hour for 5 hours a day. Our budget for our guests was $1500pp but we also wanted all access to all parts of the resorts and to do that you need to stay at the Grand or the Maya. Which brought it up to 1787pp and everyone was ok with that as that was direct and transfers. We have 44 people going and its hard to get everyone to RSVP and if you can let all people book their own flights because it can get really stressful on you if you have straglers. We wanted a beach but they also have other places. I look on Travel Advisor for "Real" pictures.

For the rest of the questions, i don't know. We started to plan a month ago and since putting the deposits in we are in a stand still situation.

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
