Iberostar Paraiso Wedding Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Hi ztag!  I actually have been to the resort so I can probably be of some help to you!

First, I chose the Del Mar for two reasons - 1) after reading a 2011 Iberostar Forum (http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/63135/2011-iberostar-brides) which has a lot of super helpful information, I learned that the Del Mar is the only one with the covered, open air reception venue.  All of the other reception venues are inside.  2) it's more affordable for guests!

If you choose the Del Mar or Beach your guests can stay at any of the hotels and still have access to your wedding.  If you choose the Lindo or Maya your guests can stay at either of those two or the Grand and have access to your wedding (they will have to buy a day pass to go to your wedding if they stay at the Del Mar or Beach).  So that's another reason I chose the Del Mar - no matter which Iberostar hotel people stay at they can come to us!  I hope this is helpful!

Thanks, that info is definitely helpful! I have a few more questions:

1. Do you happen to know anything about ceremony sites? The only two I can find are the beach and a wedding gazebo.

2. Is it possible to stay at the Lindo and have your reception at a Beach/Del Mar/Maya restaurant?

3. Does each resort have its own wedding planner? I sent an email a week ago to weddingsparaiso@iberostar.com.mx and haven't heard back. Its not that I'm in a hurry to plan every little detail of our wedding, it would just be nice to be sent some more information. If anyone has a different email address worth trying or could send any documents to ztag7@goldmail.etsu.edu I would really appreciate it!

hi ztag!

I think we can all relate to how stressful the resort booking process can be.  I went back and forth many times but ultimately decided on the Del Mar.  A few reasons:

1. I LOVE the open air venue. Del Mar brides have first choice of that venue and it was very important to us.  I've heard mixed reviews if Lindo brides can book the Del Mar restaurant. I think it depends if it's available on your day.

2. The rooms are much less expensive for our guests at the Del Mar.  We want to encourage as many friends/family as possible to join, so we went with this option.  If some people want a nicer resort - they can upgrade to the Lindo and we have rates secured for them. At the end of the day, knowing our group of friends we'll spend all our time at the pool having fun - so a nicer room isn't as important for us. In regards to being able to have unlimited "a la carte restaurants" (the other difference with Del Mar) - we have people coming in every night of the week and predict we'll just go with a big group to the buffet or try to get extra reservations when we're there.

3. The only two wedding ceremony options are the gazebo and beach.  I originally wanted to gazebo because it's more private - but it's fairly small and we're predicting a larger wedding guest group.  We'll probably end up at the beach - but my sister's fiance is in charge or moving ALL swimsuit beach goers away from the site so they aren't in pictures (i keep having nightmares about an old man in a speedo in the background of every picture).

4. there is a separate wedding planner for each resort. once you book they've been very quick to respond (surprising for Mexico)

Overall i don't think you can go wrong with any of the Iberostar resorts.  For us it came down to our own budget and trying to be mindful of our guests.  We know we can have fun anywhere so why spend the extra money for the grand.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ladies, I am a new ( B ) to the site! I am also booked and getting hitched at the Iberostar Grand. I was surprised to see that wedding package special with the " Free" night. THough my WC has been awesome, I have yet to hear of any type of complimentary nights. We are getting married 5/18/13 . I have stayed at the IBerostar Tucan and lovvvveeedd it ! So, I can only imagine what the Grand has to offer. Does anyone know someone that has pictures of the flower arrangements for tables, etc. ---Janeandbrian--- Yikes, I know the feeling. I am considering using Claudia Photos for our day. Has anyone ever heard of Cancun Wedding Videos ? Their work looks awesome. Any feedback, ideas or help will greatly be appreciated! CHeers to all you lovely brides!!

HI ztag ! I am getting married at the Grand in May 2013. I decide to book with the Grand because of all the fantastic reviews I've heard from family memebers whom have visited. I chose the largest package which I believe included 30 guests. We will be having an entire resturant to ourselves : )    The name of the resturant is Brias's and I hear it is located right on the beach   ( great views) . I offered my guests the choice of the three hotels  Grand, Maya and Lindo. Just remember that the Grand is an adult only resort. The other resorts are kid friendly.  Children are welcomed at our reception because we are having a private reception. The wedding cordinators have been awesome ! Let me know if you have specfic questions ! Cheers and congrats : )

Hi all!

I'm starting to look at hair/makeup options for me and my bridesmaids and am having a bit of sticker shock!  Has anyone else decided on hair/makeup options?  Are you going with the resort salon or bringing someone in?  I don't think the resort does makeup and I really want to have that done for at least myself.  Let me know your thoughts :)

Jaclyn---your wedding is coming up...let us know what is going on....my invitations will go out this week...we have 58 people booked and expect about 80 total staying at Grand, Maya and Lindo with a few at non-Iberostar hotels.  We picked surf and turf and sea bass for entree choices and will book DJ Doremixx...are you getting your hair/make-up done?  If you get someone from the outside do you have to buy a pass for them to come to your room?  Do you have to pay a fee for DJ Doremixx to come DJ?  What type of table seating are you doing for the reception?  Lots of questions.  Very exciting!!

39 days until we leave for our wedding.  We are planning a 430 pm wedding, followed by pictures and then a  private sit down dinner at the french restaurant..  We have broken up the menu and have chose Italian menu for appetizers and steakhouse for the main food.  My sister has been there before and is very familiar with the food.

We are getting married on Tuesday, but have guest coming in though Monday.  We are planning on going to the Japanese Steakhouse for our main get together/ rehearsal dinner.

I am using Sara Tamargo for my makeup and Luckie photography for our wedding.  I know there is a penalty, but if you book a room for the photographer at (the Mexican local rate) it ends up greatly minimizing the penalty by about 75%.

I can't believe how fast time is flying!!!!  Let me know how your planning is going :)

Hi Jane and Jaclyn---your wedding day is fast approaching.  Jane--would you mind sharing the pricing for make-up and photography?  Do you have to pay a guest fee for the make-up artist to come to the resort?  What is the mexican local rate?  Do you have to pay a fee to have DJ Doremixx come on-site to DJ?  If either of you are getting married on the beach, I would love input when you get back on the best way to decorate...I'd love to see flowers you choose for bouquet and other decorations.

We also have a couple of people coming to the wedding that are staying elsewhere but would like to spend the night of the wedding there...they said there is a 3 night minimum....I was wondering if any of you got around it.  We are thinking of asking the week of the wedding and see if we can get a deal if they have availability.

Oh, and if you have music for wedding or reception, let me know how it went.

Good Luck!!!

Kelly

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
