In that case, with the holidays being here, they might just be budgeting money.    In reality it takes very little time to book something so if they do it on January 5th! Then it's on time.  You could send a text message or email to remind them the deadline has passed and when they expect to book. But don't do it yet.  I'd wait until maybe a week before the absolute deadline if they haven't booked by then..you have no choice obviously but to hound them as they are in the wedding!

I definitely understand the frustration!!! Esp since I enclosed a stamped RSVP envelope to send back their replies!!! Oh well, as some of you stated, if is is a priority to them, they will book, if not, do I really care if they are at our wedding?? My early booking discount deadline is Monday. So far I have 12 people booked, including my fiance and me. I have hopefully at least 9 people booking on Monday. I invited about 90 guests, and when we first told them, I counted about 50 were coming. So who knows how many will actually be there. I have a few people looking into getting a better rate, but I must say the early booking deal was sweet! Oh well, I can't concern myself with that, it is what it is! But I am glad I am not the only one with this problem shots.gif

Hi Ladies,

Try not to worry too much about guests not booking right away. It is very common for most guests to contact your Travel Agent on the final deposit deadline date to confirm their booking.

We usually tell our clients that 20 - 30 percent of their invited guest list will attend the wedding. If your wedding is not for some time, usually guests don't feel the need to book right away, which can sometimes be discouraging to the bride and groom.

My suggestion would be to continue the planning process with a realistic guest count in mind. Your friends and family will start booking before you know it!

Happy Planning!

Wow, that's a really low return rate.  I always assumed it was closer to 60%... of course this isn't based on anything factual.

I guess it depends on who you send out the invitation to.  Some people just send it to everyone, just to have them feel like being included knowing that they will not attend anyway.  Some people only send invitation to those whom you want to be there.  So...the rate will be different.

Yeah I agree with this. In our case, we did send invitations to friends and family we know will not be coming because of distance or whatever else is the case. We just wanted to include them in the loop anyway.  This definitely brings our percentage of likely guests down. RSVPs are SLOWLY coming in for us at this point.

We heard from some folks before invites even went out, but since invitations went out 3 weeks ago, we've heard back from 10 guests. 5 accepted and 5 declined.  I predict we should hear back from the bulk of people after the holidays (I hope).

Actually, it might be best if you appoint someone to organize for you so that they can follow up with guests.  Weddings are such a delicate thing, especially if it's your event.  If someone else like a family member, planner, or someone does the follow ups, RSVP confirmations, regular calls or emails for roll call type of thing, it may seriously ease your mind.  Happy wedding planning :)

Cheers!!

My FI suggest I call ppl and ask them to book. I don't feel as if I should be doing that, I have enough going without having to Chase ppl down to come to our wedding.

Thanks for listening. My FI thinks I'm being a bridezilla...whatever lol

I would not recommend calling, but a group email might be a good place to start.  You don't want to hassle everyone especially if they're afraid to tell you they can't afford to go.

Agreed! I won't be calling anyone. I won't even send out emails. If they don't respond we will assume they aren't going. I think it's crazy that people actually don't RSVP, but oh well! I would never not RSVP even if I can't make it! Common courtesy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
