We sent out about 120 invites i think. We wanted 40 people, tops so it looks like it all worked out :)

How many people did you send actual STD's and invites to? We sent a little over 100. I'm hoping for less than half that! My future mother-in-law insisted on inviting everyone we would invite to a local wedding. But I am really hoping for around 30-40. Any more than that will be too expensive!

That's great! Sounds just like me. I'm hoping to get the same turn out as you!

  • 4 weeks later...
  • 3 months later...

I can relate to some of the frustrations being expressed here. Definitely.

I'm at 3.5 months until my wedding (in March!) When we first announced that rooms were reserved and ready to book... the ONLY people who booked were my fiance's parents. I sent out official invitations in September, giving a booking date of November 15th. We actually have until January for people to book, but we wanted people to do it early so that we wouldn't stress.

Anyway.. November 10th came around, and only our parents had booked. We sent a reminder e-mail about the resort book-by date of Nov. 15th, and please let us know either way. That got people going, and now we have 28 people booked, and a few more maybes. We originally sent out 60 invites.

I am frustrated by the amount on non-responders though. We COMPLETELY understand if people can't make it. But it kind of hurts my feelings when people can't even be bothered to say no. I don't want anyone to feel pressured, but ignoring my invite means that a) I feel like you don't care enough to even reply and B) now I have to contact you and ask you directly to make sure, and that makes me feel like a jerk. UGH.

This is what is scaring me. Still have very few booked. Sent invites out two weeks ago. I am trying to not stress about this but it's hard. I have a RSVP deadline for 1/18/2013 so I'm just going to have faith that people are going to do the right thing and respond. I am not doing any follow ups so if I don't get any response, I will take that as a "no".  I will wait to make that absolute determination on Feb 1st.  I am so good at RSVPing and responding to invites, I just don't get why most people aren't.

I think you're singing my song.  This is more than likely my reality and I anticipate that a large number of my guests will book between 8-12 weeks prior to the wedding. Aside from our parents and siblings (the only family invited) no one has booked, not even our BM and MOH (married couple), which is truly frustrating. But we also realize that we're the most straight laced among our friend and most just fly by the seat of their pants. They're the spontaneous type and planning is not in their DNA. But like Uhara, I have no intensions of babysitting anyone through this process. if it's important to them and a priority, then they'll be there.

Oh I have the same timeline sent invites about 2 weeks ago and have a deadline of January 15, 2013. I have had two people book... I really didn't want to stress this at all but it is already freaking me out a little bit, but I kind of feel the same way as you, if htey havent booked by then I will take it as a no, I am just surprised becuase of how many people were so excited when we first started talking about it and now crickets! Oh well it is what it is I guess but I can't help stressing a little.

Just send them a text message or something and tell them the deadline has passed and they really need to book. I am not sure how else you can light fire under their buns to do this. When is the OFFICIAL deadline to book?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
