No one has booked! :(

Hi!  I feel you, our wedding is 5-12-12 and we only have 4 friends booked, and the rest is family.  Are you using a travel agent?  We are using one, and originally gave our guests land only pricing.  No one booked at all with that, so now we gave our guests land and air.  It seemed to help a little bit, most people keep talking about booking.  I know when we attended a Jamaica wedding in March last year we didn't book until January, so maybe people are just taking their time.  It is annoying though, I want to order everything now!! And you can't do that until you have an idea of how many people are coming!

Hey Kary. I am using a TA and Grp booking is land only . Deadlines. Are for Feb 8th. I understand ppl take their time. I'm just more upset with those close to us that know all about out plans and everything and still haven't booked. We have friends from North Carolina who we only see once a yr arranging flight and room booking . Those we see on a regular basis haven't even attempted booking! I'm about to FI bridezilla on them! Lol

Brendee, I'm so glad you posted this. We are 6 months and some change out till our wedding day and NO One from my side has booked. Not even my parents!

I sent out my STD 9 months in advance, my invites 8 months in advance. My RSVP date is three months out before the wedding day. Come end of February I am sending out an email / call to my family and friends to make sure they are going or not going. If no one goes, if it rains or shines, I'm still getting married.

I know as brides we like to plan ahead and know whats coming but try to relax. I hear there are better travel deals 1 - 2 months prior to departure. Not sure if this is true or not...

My FI suggest I call ppl and ask them to book. I don't feel as if I should be doing that, I have enough going without having to Chase ppl down to come to our wedding.
Thanks for listening. My FI thinks I'm being a bridezilla...whatever lol

it looks like our wedding will be a small group of 11 - no one in FI's family is planning to attend (not even his best man) despite affirmative responses to the STD (GRRR!!!), but I'm slowly becoming ok with it. I was hoping for 25, though deep down I kinda knew it would be small.

the only true disappointment is the sheer lack of response. I think by the time we're a few months out, people will have forgotten about our wedding entirely. I thought of sending an evite-style reminder post card that lists their current reply as, 'not yet responded'. the least they could do is log onto the website and let us know, right?? that's an etiquette thing, though - I think most people assume that no response = their indication of not coming. for some reason that's better than RSVPing (?!)

speaking of etiquette, I know it's tempting to dial up these people and WTF them, but I read something Emily Post-style that basically said that it shouldn't be up to the bride to 'dirty her hands' with wrangling RSVPs from invited guests. if perhaps a close friend or family member can intervene on your behalf and make calls, send emails/letters, etc, I think it will save much angst on your part.

it's tough, ladies, but I'm hopeful it all works out in the end. ; ) best of luck.

Ugh worst ever. I mailed my STDs out back in May for our June wedding (because I'm neurotic like that). Most people told us straight up that they weren't going to be thinking about it until January. Here it is January and the travel agent's deadline is coming up in March and only myself and my FMIL have booked. best man, mh, FFIL, my own parents, noone else has done anything. I think it'll still turn out to be 25+ but its so incredibly frustrating. I can't even figure out how many centerpieces I need to buy bc I don't know how many tables we'll have. It will all work out and apparently this sort of lax response is totally normal in weddings period, not just DW. Breathe, and drink some wine BangHead.gif

It's so annoying!! We have 22 booked and confirmed. I sent out 65 invites and only have gotten 12 rsvp back!! I keep in hearing I'm going I'm booking. Ok, then book and send me your RSVP. Do ppl really think that I spent money on invites and postage so they can just toss it aside! Ughhhh!!!!!!

SERIOUSLY! We spend way more money on the pocketfold style  invites than I really wanted to because I felt like people weren't paying attention to the wedding website that I put on the STDs. People just procrastinate to an extreme. It's funny because we're sending out about the same number of invites =D

When did you send out your formal invites? I fought my urge to send them way earlier and will be mailing them in the next 2 weeks.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
