CABO AZUL 2012 BRIDES!

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Yes, I hired an outside coordinator. The reason I did this was because Cabo Azul was having high turnover in their wedding department. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't have hired her. Georgina, Maria and Rosalinda are wonderful and handled everything perfectly.

I was able to contact my own vendors through my outside coordinator. I believe I got a pretty good price on flowers, but as far as everything else, it was similar to what the resort charges.

Minister: Carlos Navas (Terrible, do not use him)

DJ Ricardo Patino

Emporio Floral

Solo Guitar- Alonso Aguirre- he was fantastic

Hair and Makeup- Suzanne Morel

I'm not one to tell you how to cut cost since I went WAY over my budget (we had 75 guests) but here are some things I found:

Cabo Azul is so beautiful that you need limited decor- linens, fancy flowers. My flowers were gorgeous and very inexpensive- I only brought votives down with me. I have an allergy so we didn't  have a cake- that saved money and no one even noticed or cared. Depends on your group but we went over our bar- thankfully everyone slowed down but it goes quickly!

Be cautious of what drinks you serve at the cocktail hour- they push them hard at guests and many (expensive) drinks are left untouched.

Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions!

I am getting married at CAR June 27, 2012. We finalized our contract and it took quite a few tweaks to get what we wanted. They are sticklers when it comes to certain things. Right now we are in the process of finalizing Photographer and looking into Florists. We are going to our 2nd site visit April 2012 to finalize little details as far as what is included in our "set up fee for ceremony", decor (linens, napkins etc...exactly what is included and what choices we have), ceremony music, sound system for ceremony?, florist etc.....

I did get a list from CAR but I am looking into others who are not on the list! I was never told we could not use other vendors~ Georgina specifically told me they preferred vendors that have worked at CAR before however she actually listed/referred a photographer who has NEVER worked at the resort and NEVER has photographed any weddings at CAR so I think this is a discrepancy! Im looking into my own vendors~ Georgina said we couldnt use outside vendors for food, drink or cake items~

Did you hear about the pricing on H20? They charge the same amount for H20 as they do a cocktail so it can really raise your bar tab~ something to think about! Im actually having my waters custom so we got around that $5 charge per 9liter bottle!!! YIKES~ however they would charge me $1 per bottle instead since im bringing my own~

Claudia4Warren,

As for the water ....This was something I negotiated while doing my contract~we figured better to pay $1 per bottle than pay $5~ Believe me that contract was dissected my my fiancee' and we are happy with everything now~

As for the total amount of guests we dont have a final head count but were thinking around 50 or so. I just sent out my STD's yesterday!

Im nervous about conducting everything over the phone but I really dont think it would be necessary to hire an outside coordinator when I would just do everything myself anyways!!

The most complaints I have heard from other CAR brides seems to be problems with communication~ I hear about problems with waiters so I want to make things completely Clear when I go down for my second site visit~ I dont want any surprises when we receive final bills after the wedding~ Just be on top of numbers and you'll be ok~

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
