well here is the last and final update using this website... i will be on here to sell all my destination wedding things i have purchased to try and recover some of the loss i have had financially.. unfortunately my inlaws, and my family refuse to do a destination wedding. they say that it puts a huge "burdin" on them and what they need to do in their lives. they want me to do what i want to do, but of course "with costs" to family relationships..  so i guess everyone wins but me, yet again... i will not be having a destination wedding. I have always said if my family couldnt go, meaning my father couldnt walk me down the aisle that i wouldnt do the whole destination wedding thing.. and i am going to hold true to my word. even though this breaks my heart, i can't walk down the aisle alone.. i guess this is how things are supposed to be, even though i disagree, what can i do right? well thanks for everything ladies, and i will most likely be using ideas off of this site, and wanting to use opinions.. i wont be able to do a destination wedding planning thread :(

This breaks my heart for you. I'm sure you will still have an amazing wedding! At the end of the day, you are marrying your prince charming and the two of you will be so happy together that hopefully you won't even miss the destination wedding!

Sorry to hear that you are not getting your dream wedding. It sounds like you are disappointed (rightfully so) but are trying to look at the positive. Good work. I am sure that things will work out, and not that it helps to hear, but remember that, after all, at the end of the day you are still ending up married to your man, and that is what it is all about, right?

Easy for me to say.

I am really sorry to hear it though.

It is your wedding.  You and your fiance should decide what you want and base decisions on that.  I would be willing to bet that everyone that can't go are people that would not be contributing to your trip or honeymoon financially.  Have a small AHR for them if you want.

It sucks that you aren't going to have what you want! If it were me, I'd still get married at the resort I was planning with just me and my fiance and have a AHR. It's your day. If you aren't going to do it though, make sure you take an amazing honeymoon!

So sorry that your destination wedding isn't happening for the time. I think some of the advice here was great on how to deal with family things in general so thanks to all the ladies that took time to write. I know that it is hard but I am sure you guy will have a great wedding and a fantastic honeymoon...and honestly your trip will be better without all his family along to complain the whole time....

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
