OFFICIAL Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Thread

Hi ladies this is my first post on here even though I've read hundreds of your guys' posts!Lol my main question is how do you pay for your wedding ceremony/weddings reception? Do you just pay for it all at the end? Cash/credit? I'm a bit nervous giving my credit info out..and also with the photographer does he take cash on delivery or do you pay in advance?

There's really nothing else you can do besides make it clear you would love for her to come and then just wait on it. Pushing might make it worse.

Thank you for your reply.

Yeah she says now that her health is too weak for her to travel, but I know that she wouldn't go to Mexico - even if her wealth was fine.

I have always dreamed of having my wedding on the beach.... and I just love the stress free idea of having something destination.... I'm in graduate school working on my doctorate degree so I literally have no time. Plus, my fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves!

What are your thoughts on legal versus symoblic wedding? I think we plan to do the legal wedding.... but Jazmin my coordinator said that the judges are strict and will now allow to do any poem readings or candle lighting ceremony??? I emailed her back asking if I could have a bridesmaid or my cousin read a poem, and then do our own vows, and then let the judge do his thing..... I hope she agrees that is fine. I dont see why it would be a problem to incorporate a few extra things to make the legal ceremony special?

Does anyone know what the legal ceremony is like? If i can use my own vows? Also how long it takes. We are getting married at the Tulum gazebo at 4:00 pm on December 19. I worry about how much light there will be and time for photos as we are having dinner at the portofino at 6:00 pm and then reception poolside in the coba section. The Tulum gazebo seems so far from dinner especially if we have to squeeze photos in with the Arecife photographers.

I actually have that same question! We are doing a legal ceremony on August 4,2014... Jazmin said the judge is strict, but I don't see how incorporating personal vows should matter! We want to do our own vows too, so when you find out please let me know :)

Ok so she is allowing you to do your own vows and have someone do a reading before the judge? Just want to double check because we are also doing legal (August 4 2014!) and want to have my cousin read a poem, and want to do our own vows before the judge does all of the legal stuff :)

I had a legal ceremony and my aunt read the sand ceremony saying and we proceeded to do the sand ceremony.  So we were able to customize, but it had to be after the judge had finished the legal part.

Thanks! Good to know :) we want to incorporate a poem, our personal vows, the hands ceremony (another poem), and also have a moment of silence to remember loved ones who have passed away (my mom died when I was a teenager)... So it sounds like this would be doable. When did you get married and which location? We are August 4, 2014 at tulum gazebo. How long was your ceremony about? How long did it take you to get your documents transferred before flying down for your wedding? How long did it take for your marraige license to be mailed? Thanks :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
