This is a good point! I'm almost considering forteiting the free photos to avoid this. I'm bringing my own photog and i know for a fact that he won't be happy about someone else getting in his way.
Do you think its best just to tell the WC that we don't want the free photos?

I will say this though, the photographers are very intrusive.  He was up at the alter and VERY much in their face.  So he's in almost all of my photos, which kind of stinks.  So remember that when you think about if you want to accept the 10 free photos.

Hi Everyone

Looking forward to get married in may 2012 at the Bahia Principe.

We have already been there in 2006 but it is so much changed since then that I can't wait to go back.

As reading I found out that there will be extras to pay. Funny cause the price of the wedding is already more than anywhere else.

We will be having the Mayan blessing at the Akumal location on the beach. Thank Kimberly to post your pictures. It is much appreciated.

Is there really dolphins on the site ?

Is the golf a 9 or 18 holes ?

Thank you for any insight you may have.

Isa

Hi Kristen (and other brides too)!

I am staying at Coba just after you, in March of 2013.  We have some teachers in our group, and hopefully I will get a teaching job soon too, so we decided it was safest to do a March Break wedding.  We are hoping to get married at the Akumal Beach location, so fingers crosses.  I hope that you are able to get the Tulum Gazebo too.  My friend got married there and absolutely loved it.  I have decided to go with my own photographer too.  I absolutely love her work, and I have been following her blog for years.  When Trisha posted the prices for Arrecife Photography, I couldn't believe it.  When I compared the prices with my photographer, it was only a slightly higher price to fly her down for a week.  With her I get an engagement session which I am choosing to have taken in Niagara Falls where I grew up, a full days coverage with between 6-800 images on a DVD that are not watermarked--she is staying from the point of me and my FI getting married until our first dance-ish, and then we get a TTD the following day.  She will also set up an online gallery for my friends and family to view the images.  I feel that I am getting what I want out of her, and good value.  But there are so many beautiful pictures from the resort photographer, too.  Did you make your decision?

Hi Isa,

Yes, there really are dolphins in the Tulum section.  Four of them, if I'm not mistaken.  I took photos for one of the wedding couple's guests while they did the dolphin interaction.  It was really fun and they had a lot of fun.  Here is one photo from the event:

Golf is 18 holes.

Hi Kristen! Congrats!! I believe you're our 1st 2013 bride!!

As far as I know you can get married at the Tulum Gazebo even if you're staying at Akumal..as long as there isn't a Tulum bride that wants it on the same day/time.

Thats what they told me when I was interested in the Akumal Hammock location.

So being that it's a year away and you're booked already - I think you should be safe but you'll have to confirm with your WC at Akumal (if thats where youre staying). I believe her name is Eugenia. The Tulum WC is Jazmin.

The Photographers the the resort offers are amazing by what I've seen. They use Arrecife..and I believe they have a page on Facebook if you want to see their shots.

Personally...I feel that their prices are just too high for what you're getting and because the resort does not allow outside photographers I'm bringing my own. Luckily...with the amount of people we have booked for our wedding we get a credit so we will be applying that to his travel expenses so we're actually only paying for his fee as a photographer.

You'll see a lot of mixed opinions on here about the photographers but its really what you decide about how much you want to spend on your photography. For some people photography is the #1 most important expense for their wedding...others not so much.

I would read through the threads and get others' opinions....have a look at their pics/portfolio on FB as well as their prices of course and decide from there.

good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
