@@LeeanneMUA @@Dreamteam17 - I feel your pain!  I am getting married Nov 18th and JUST finally heard from my WC this week after about 5 emails.  Of course now I'm playing the waiting game again after I've responded to her.  Agree it's a bit disappointing when you see others with their weddings 6+ months in advance and already have a dinner and reception confirmed!   At the end of the day I know it will all work out and will be a great day, but STILL! lol

@ - another question for you :)

I was told Arlequin is not available for my dinner, but I don't love the menus they sent for Frutos del Mar or Dolce Vita.

What are your thoughts on Don Pablo and/or La Gran Tortuga?  (food, decor, etc).  I think most of my guests are more meat-eaters than seafood eaters...

Thanks!

Both are DELICIOUS.  Don Pablo is probably more suited to a wedding as I'm not sure how they actually do weddings in Tortuga (typically they slice your meat off of giant skewers).

The problem is that they are in Tulum.  If your guests are staying at Akumal and your reception is going to be at Akumal, you'll want to consider that.

Also, if they won't let you have arlequin, did you try asking if they could have a steak option for you at the other two restaurants?

I didn't even think to ask about a steak option at one of those restaurants - great idea :)

Location-wise dinner would be better at Akumal, but the ceremony is at the gazebo, so I figure if dinner ends up being at Tulum, at least it's kind of in between the ceremony and where we're all staying.

@@jfarrowable you are right , it will all turn out in the end :)

Hi - I am getting married Nov 27th Tulum Gazebo, staying at the Coba. We are from Saskatoon, Canada and our guests paid 1485.00 CAD Taxes in with West jet vacations.. The year prior, Dec 7th, i went for my best friends wedding and we paid 1100.00CAD taxes in for the Tulum (ridiculously cheaper!)  What do you mean by the news "luxury re brand"??

We are doing the private poolside dinner and then private DJ party by the pool. We cant wait!!!!! We have about 55 attending the wedding.

I am bringing some of my own decorations. I have asked the coordinator to email me flower catalogue and such, but of course no answer. I am hiring BesoBrides to come do our airbrush make up and hair.

When my friend got married last year, we had a relaxing massage and body scrub done the morning of at the tulum spa and it was probably the best thing ever and I highly recommend it, even if its a gift to all your ladies :) or mom..... they were about 100 US but OH SO WORTH IT.. your skin is like butter after!!!

We are thinking of hiring the resort videographer as I am really wanting the day filmed now that I have seen videos of other weddings done. I am jsut worried about quality.... Anyone did this?

Let me know !

THANKS!!

Emma

Do you have to pay a vendor fee for beso brides to come to the resort and to your room?

Hi Ladies!

Iv booked Akumal from May 07 -17 2015 with the wedding date being May 14th

Iv chosen akumal beach however i really don't want to be on the gazebo. Are there any other beach options?

Definitely having a private poolside or beach reception as we have 50 guests from Canada and Australia attending.

Any other brides around the same time?

So many pages to read!!

The Akumal Hammocks site is on the beach, but it's not with a gazebo or anything, just a wooden arch draped in fabric. That's where I'm planning, although I'm not booked yet because we're still 14 months away and I want to get package rates before I book a date.

@@jfarrowable what time is your ceremony and what time is your dinner?  The problem is that a good amount of people go back to their room in between to freshen up.  I suppose they'd probably just hang out at the bar in Tulum instead, but just make sure there isn't a lot of time in between otherwise people are just having to go back and forth.

Hi! I have told them that they are guests and will only pay the daily fee - which I believe it $90 . I am banking on the hotel allowing me to do this as I have spoken with Beso Brides and they told me they have done this before at the GBP's. (Fingers crossed!)

Less than two months! CANT WAIT!

A QUESTION FOR BRIDES (past and future)-

Anyone know if you can get your wedding certificate in English?

Also, I am having a 3 tiered cake (as I have 80 guests) but was told I can't do the 3 milk for this bc of the consistency of the cake....did anyone else have this issue? If so, what cake would you recommend??

Another thing, is we are wanting both sets of parents on our wedding certificate, but they are saying we need to bring our birth certificates apostilled and translated into Spanish. (For Canadian Citizen, apostilled means legalized by an official translator by the law of Canada)- anyone know where this can be done?

One last thing, is I want my sister (Maid of Honour) to be one of my witnesses at the ceremony, is this do-able?

Thanks :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
