Personally, I'd go with a poolside.  It's easier to dance on concrete than it is on the beach!  Plus the beach can have bugs at night, be extremely windy, and... well... sand.

I think they are beautiful, I just don't know how practical they are for a wedding reception.

Thank you everyone for your input! We decided against the beach, it is beautiful but I think it would require more lighting to make it magical and that's just not in the budget. We decided on this tented lounge, I'm not sure what Luciana called it but it is beautiful :)

What is everyone doing for tipping the day off the wedding?

I was thinking we would tip the WC, band, dj and bartender, and I was thinking of using $10/hr as our base. So the band only plays 1hour, so $10 each. The dj and bartender are hired for three hours, so $30 each, and the wedding coordinator I'm assuming will be there from the ceremony until we start drinking, 5 hours, so $50?

Does that sound fair?

Unfortunately my group is so large it's really here or the beach, We won't fit comfortably at the pool lol. Luciana suggested it and assured me it will be private but I'm really ok with it the more the merrier :) plus it is gorgeous :):)

@@HannahMarie would you mind telling me how much you paid to have this as your reception area? Also, were all of your guests staying at Akumal or other parts of the GBP? Thanks.

@@N50mys Hi, your wedding photos looked beautiful, we're looking at getting married at the same Tulum location. We're also booking the Romance Extravaganza package, is it only the 25 photos included and not the photographer themselves? I automatically assumed it meant both. Thanks.

Does anyone know if the wording using in a spiritual ceremony is the same/similar to a legal ceremony?

I don't want it to be obvious that it is not legal and hope to even create a "commitment" document (a fun/cute one to hang on the wall in our bedroom later) that we can sign after the kiss.

Does anyone that has been married at this location have a spiritual ceremony video I could watch?

Cheers

Hi,

I wondered if anyone could let me know if you need to go anywhere like a Town Hall/Registry office in Mexico to legalise the wedding? I know of others that have got married in Cyprus and Greece that have had to do this.

Also, I've asked the hotel if we need a Certificate of No Impediment (CNI) and get is translated but I keep just getting sent the list of legal documents and it doesn't include this but the UK Government website states that this is required.

I appreciate any guidance :-)

From....a confused bride-to-be!

There was no charge to use the tented area, however my group is large so we only fit on the beach or here! We are all at Akumal, 63 in total. I attached some pricing info about the bar options as well, the discounts have changed after the 1st hour.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
