@@melaniesum - My wedding is on 16th December and I was assigned a wedding co-ordinator two weeks ago. I was told that it is a 3 stage process before you get to be assigned one. I told them I couldn't fill out my wedding wishes without having a wedding co-ordinator as I wanted details on flowers and they're the only ones who can contact the florist. I hope it's not long before you get assigned one x

My date was October 20, 2011. We're still trying to get back to the resort! Seems like every time we make plans something goes wrong so still haven't been back and it's nearly 5 years!

Hey, we get married on the 29th may 2017, we have booked via Thomas Cook, we've decided on the gazebo location for the ceremony but we are at a lost end for reception, it's a very small wedding with on 14 guest (6 of which are children 8years and under) we have the ceremony booked for 2pm but I'm now thinking of putting it back later? Any recommendations?

Hi!  My best friend is planning on getting married in March at the Bahia Akumal.  We haven't booked yet because we are waiting to hear back from someone telling us the requirements for the free ceremony.  Has anyone done the free ceremony (it will be symbolic) or do you know the requirements for getting it complimentary?

Thanks!

Christine

We are getting married at Coba on April 4th, 2016. I just realized that we need to be there two WORKING days beforehand. We arrive on the first which is a Saurday and the 4th is Tuesday, this is going to be an issue isn't it? I just emailed the resort but I am expecting a long wait in a response as I know they are super busy.

Next thing, does anyone know the price of bringing in an outside makeup team?

Lastly, does anyone have any pics of the beach front location? This is what we chose.

Thanks!! :)

I picked 2pm also, I think its a perfect time for a Wedding!

Hi - we are planning on getting married there in 2017 and I just have a few questions I can't seem to find up-to-date answers on:

1) Can we fly in our own photographer? Will we have to pay an additional cost if they stay with us for the entire week as one of our wedding guests? If we hire a photographer from Riviera Maya, not part of the resort, what will be the cost associated?

2) I see a lot of people talking about BeSo Brides for makeup and hair - does anyone have reviews on this vs. onsite hair and makeup and pricing? How much will we have to pay to have them come on the resort? Has anyone left the resort to get their hair and makeup done from them?

3) I have stayed at the Sian Ka'an for 2 weeks last April which gave us a lot of time to try out the restaurants. I really am only interested in having our meal at either Le Gourmet or Don Pablo. I don't see anyone talking about these - is it even an option? Has anyone done this before? We are planning on staying at the Akumal, maybe the Coba. I went to the Italian at the Coba, which I thought I would like, but the meal was a complete DISASTER (they "ran out" of everything we wanted to eat - and we had early reservations at 6pm! We also don't like seafood so what else are our options?)

4) Is there any reason we should stay at the Coba other than the Akumal except for cost? It's approx 150$ more per person to stay at the Akumal for the Coba but i spent most of my time at the Akumal beach and pool and loved it.

Even if you can answer only a few out of these questions - any response would be appreciated! Thank you for your time

Hello!

I just set my date for next November 4-11 2017 and was fortunate enough to be able to meet with a wedding coordinator when I was there in February this year so I may be able to help.

To your first question, you are allowed to bring a "guest" who takes your photos but not technically another professional photographer and not pay any extra fee as long as they are staying at the resort. I believe if you want to bring an outside/local photographer you have to pay a pretty substantial fee, but not sure how much. When your talking to your wc it seems best not to give too much details as they obviously want to promote the resort one.

As akumal is now a 'luxury' property like sian kaan you have access to more options than coba or tulum. The wc also mentioned that if you want to use the akumal beach location as your wedding site guests staying at coba or tulum would have to pay a 50$ fee/day pass.

As a guest I don't think you would notice too much difference they don't generally care/notice where your hanging out. Epically with a nice tip :)

Akumal has also recently updated some of their rooms but I think there all pretty similar except sian kaan, which I prefer but sigh :( it's adults only so too restrictive for a wedding. I've decided to go with akumal resort but tulum for wedding.

I can't really tell you what restaurants they give you the option of, can't remember if I even asked those specifics when I was speaking with the wc. That may depend on where you decide to stay.

The most popular option on the forum seems to be the pool side options such as a grill but you pay anywhere from 20$ per person but seems to give you the better variety of food as when you get past a certain amount of people they restrict menu items to 2 at most.

Hope this helps a bit!

Hi,

On count down now to wedding in June 2017! Have just received wedding pack from Thomas Cook.

Does anybody know what restaurants are linked to Tulum for wedding meal?

We are only a small wedding party (12 in total) possibly a few more max 4 but not confirmed yet.

With only a small party wouldn't mind a little area where we could hire sound equipment for a couple of hours after meal with drinks is this possible ?

Has anyone had thier make up done by the hotel? I'm confident I can do my hair ( ex hairdresser) but not so with make up but don't want it caked on just looking for a bit of feedback really.

Don't overly want to spend too much on extras would rather spend it on photos and video to remember the day and show family & friends who are not fortunate to share our big day.

Any help tips or advice would be well appreciated x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
