@@emigrayson so happy to hear you say all that! We are doing centrepieces but they are small (photos in my thread if you wanted to see) and are thinking about not doing favours. I don't want to lug too much with us and can't think of anything practical enough that would travel well to Mexico. Instead we are giving everyone a custom beach bag with a waterproof phone case (bag). Do you think that's enough?

That is perfect! Seriously dragging all kinds of stuff down there is crazy! The water proof case is brilliant, everyone wanted one that was with us, wish I had of thought of it!!

@@emigrayson  Thank you!  The people I have told about the case so far have been really happy about it. I ordered them from Hong Kong on eBay and they are due to arrive anytime between now and April 1... I can't confirm the quality just yet but the price was incredible.  I will post details on my thread once I receive them in case anyone else wants to get them for their group.

We are gettingoing married at 5pm June 8th at the Tulum beach location. I have to confirm where we want our private poolside reception ... we are staying at Akumal so I believe we can go anywhere. They have mentioned the Main Tulum pool or the White Sands tented area at Akumal. Can anyone make any suggestions or recommendations? I just want the most beautiful spot

Hi ladies,

I'm wondering if anyone can give any advice regarding wedding gifts (cash, specifically) and how you handled it if you received it for your wedding while at the resort.

Did you put it in the safe? Were there any issues?

Did you have to declare the money when coming back to Canada? If so, what were the consequences of that? Did you have to pay any extra taxes, etc?

Also, I'm so nervous about having our wedding bands in the safe for days before the wedding. Has anyone had any issues or heard of anyone else having any issues?

I think I'm being paranoid, but just want some reassurance!

Thank you!

I didn't marry at your resort but your feelings are just. I was also nervous bringing my wedding rings but I wasn't prepared to purchase fake duplicates like some brides do. We had no issues having it locked up!!!

With respect to cash gifts. We just put them in the safe again with no issues. I didn't declare anything personally (was I supposed too???) although I probably wouldn't have hit the max anyways which I believe is $10k. Don't quote me on that. Trying to remember the customs form.

Hi, I get married at gbp Tulum this July. I wanted to get some maracas whilst we're in Mexico to give to guests at the wedding, I guess that if need about 15 pairs. Has anyone done this before or could give an idea where I could get these from and a rough idea of the cost? I was thinking that maybe playa del Carmen may be the best place but I've never been there there on previous visits.

Thanks in advance, gemma x

So in the hacienda shops by the casino (just outside of Tulum lobby) you can get a single maraca for $2 each and you can have a name put on it as well :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
