I had the poolside dinner/reception... and I don't regret one ounce of it.  I thought it was absolutely amazing and worth every penny.

But the weddings that I've photographed that have had the dinners in a restaurant were really nice too.  I just personally wanted my guests to eat under the stars and have something special.

That's what we are thinking, too. It would be beautiful and allow us to take full advantage of the scenery and location.

Does anyone have a list of what each of the "buffet" options for the poolside dinner include? For example, what is American? What does Mixed Grill include" etc.

Can anyone tell me if they have had this issue or if I'm the one that is messing things up in this situation....

My ceremony is booked for Tulum Beach at 4pm, Dinner was set for 6pm at La Gran Tortuga. She tried to get me to have it at 530 and I said no because that does not give enough time for pictures etc and 530 is simply too early for us. She said that she would have to make a special request.... every other timeline i've seen has had dinner at 6pm. Anyways, today she emailed me and said we would be allowed to have it in the tented area of the restaurant only if we agreed to have it at 5:30pm because of the capacity - we'd be taking away from other sittings in the tented area for other guests. I'm not sure what to think about this, I am quite annoyed but I don't want to overreact. I've been very easy on all of the details but I don't understand why this is just now becoming a problem when everything was set months ago and now we are less than 4 weeks away from the date. What should I do in this case? the 5;30 vs 6pm is a big deal for me, perhaps there won't be a difference once we're there? Advice is appreciated!!

@@emigrayson I literally just emailed Andrea back because she is trying to make us have our dinner at 5.30 too! We're using the dinner in the package as a rehearsal dinner and having a private dinner for our wedding but regardless she had previously told me I could have it at 7 and now says only 5:30 is possible. Keep me posted on what you hear back and I'll do the same!

I feel your pain, so frustrating!

You'll be tight on getting your pics done. I'd personally fight for 6pm or ask for something in compensation.... Or could you start at 330pm?

We are staying at Coba, and I was just told by our wedding coordinator that we can't have our semi-private dinner in Don Pablo or Le Gourmet. In order to have dinner in these 2 gourmet restaurants, I would have to have a private dinner. Anyone else been told this?

Did any brides from Canada choose to pay for their wedding in pesos? Just wondering because with the current exchange rate, costs are significantly higher. I'm wondering how the resort determines the price in pesos and if it's any cheaper to pay in pesos, or do they just convert the USD price to pesos so it works out being the same?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
