Thanks gals, another question.... Can you have your regular included dinner and then have a private dance/reception with bar outside?

That's what I'm doing.

Is anyone else getting really, really frustrated with this resort?

My wedding is less than 2 months away. Since I chose this resort, I spent weeks fighting with them to get the Akumal site because they made it luxury after we already had our deposits put down. Then they tried to change it back to the Gazebo and I had to fight them again. Then they tore down the Akumal structure and replaced it with the same one I didn't want that matches the Tulum site.

Then I book my appointments with the photographer and spa. No problems with the photographer, but the spa is having issues because the wedding ceremony is at Akumal and we're staying at Coba. They keep transferring me back and forth between the two spas when I've requested the Coba spa. Then they tell me to send the booking form, which I did three months ago. No reply or confirmation, so I ask them to confirm our appointments, and they start asking the same damn questions again about where I'm staying, so I again tell them that I requested an appt with the Coba spa, at which point they send me the stupid booking form and tell me I need to fill it out to make an appointment.

So I email my wedding coordinator, Andrea. I tell her that the spa can't seem to confirm my appointment, and can she please find out if my appointments are booked or not. All she does is forward my email to the spa AGAIN, but without the attachment. THIS SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD.

Not to mention that all I really want to know is the timeline. I want a 3pm ceremony, music in the lobby from 5pm to 5:45, dinner at 6 and reception 8-11.  I don't care about all the details, they will sort themselves out. I just want to know that the dinner and reception are reserved so I don't end up having to switch everything after I've told all my guests the timeline. As of right now, all I know is that the ceremony is at 3pm.

Hi everyone,

I'm getting married in Tulum in February 2017 (although not booked yet as we can't until January). However, I've exchanged many emails with the hotel already to make sure there's no hidden costs for the reception as there isn't a package as such.

My biggest struggle is getting recent photos from them, has anyone got any of their ceremony, dinner & reception photos they could show me please? I'm struggling to visualise what it can look like from just the catalogue of flowers they've sent me.

Also, I don't know whether to go for the Symbolic or Legal ceremony, will the Legal one mean it's legal in the UK also or just in Mexico? And is there anything I need to do back in the UK to make it Legal?

I appreciate any help from former brides :-)

Thanks,

Steph

@@N50mys Congratulations and thank you so much sharing!!! It's so nice to hear from recent brides. I'm getting married at the same location and it was great to see some recent pics from real couples and not just what the resort sends you! You looked beautiful and everything looked perfect

@@N50mys your photos are absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for posting. Everything looks simply stunning. I have to ask, is the chandelier something that the resort provides?

Yes please let us know what was included in the decor and what you had to pay extra for.

Thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
