OFFICIAL Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Thread

Hi All,

I haven't booked the hotel yet or anything. I've fairly certain I'll go with this hotel now and called them yesterday but they don't take 2017 bookings until January of 2016. I was hoping to book it in earlier as I wanted to send out my save the date cards more then a year ahead of time so people can start saving and can book well ahead of time.

i'm wondering if I should just send out save the dates with a ballpark date on it (2nd - 9th February 2017 for example) then people can book that week and we'll get married on a day that week.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks,

Kat

Hi Trisha,

For your outdoor dinner and dance, where did you have the dance?  I heard from another bride that if you have the poolside reception, you have to rent a dance floor somewhere else?

We danced on the concrete right next to the pool.

And the weddings that I've photographed at this resort also did the same thing.

I still haven't had confirmation from the resort that they received my "Wedding Wishes" document, so my travel agent is going to try to light a fire under them to get them to acknowledge it. I don't care about any of the minor details, but I would like to know where my dinner and reception will be held!

Hi again, I received a wedding wish list today from the hotel and noticed it said that it costs $450 dollars to make the pool reception area private? Has any one else has to pay that as well as the drinks per hour? And if so is making the pool reception area private optional or compulsory?

Thanks Ladies

My travel agent finally got them to email me today, they said they had received my "wedding wishes" and sent me a bunch of links to google drive documents, including a new "Wedding wishes" form that now has that fee on it to privatize the reception. Hopefully I won't have to pay it.

@@Maggietron Ugh.  This resort just keeps adding on ridiculous fees... photographer fee, now this...

Because the US/Can dollar exchange rate isn't bad enough already...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
