OFFICIAL Gran Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Thread

Hi,

I'm getting married at the Akumal in January 2016. I would like to know if anyone has pictures of the new wooden gazebo that they put up few weeks ago on the Akumal beach instead of the 3 little ones that were there before?

Also does anyone have a list (bonus points for pictures) of the flowers available and the decor colors like for the chairs?

Thanks in advance!

Soooooo after thinking long and hard about it I have decided to hire the regionally famous Fernando from The makeup pros to do hair and makeup for the wedding. I knew that in the past its been impossible to water makeup in the Mayan heat yet alone on my wedding day and the cost to buy all new photo ready waterproof makeup was huge... Plus I have no guarantee it would look great. The reviews I have read for the resort spa have been far from what I want ever yet alone on my wedding day. So the snag is the "zero tolerance to outside vendors" policy. I know there could be a way around it with a day pass as a "friend" but not going to risk it and be left screwed for hair and makeup. So I contacted Fernando and he is pissed with the resort but said if I can find a way around it he would give me and my girls discounts. Well after nearly crying over the situation I got angry enough to find a way. Screw resort policy a bride should be able to hire who she wants. So the solution? 5 minutes away from the resort is a cute little Bed & Breakfast. $45 per night must book 2 nights which is perfect because I will use the day before to do our trials. Fernando is doing my hair and makeup for $280 normally $350 for my troubles and now I'm getting really excited! Airbrushed makeup so hopefully it won't sweat off. 30 days till my wedding!!! Saturday we are having a tiny legal ceremony and will be officially wed. During the legal ceremony we will say quick vows and exchange rings etc... My question is for people who have had a legal ceremony at home whole doing symbolic at a destination wedding.... What do you do with your rings? They ate exchanged at the legal part so do you then take them off till the destination wedding?

Thanks in advance. Getting excited now. BTW still no reply from Jasmin

I've been thinking of getting an outside vendor for my hair, I'm looking into Beso brides. Does anyone know the process to get an outside vendor into the resort? Thanks :)

Just a random thought that popped into my head - does the resort require you to wear wristbands?  If so, will they allow you to remove them for the wedding day?

Different reaorts but yes you can remove them. We were told to save them to prove we just needed a replacement. We didn't lol and still got new ones. Heck one BM just never replaced hers and no one questioned she didn't have one.

@@calgarybride2015 Phewwww! Thanks!

It's the little things like these that keep me up at night lol

At the end of the day I'd just do it anyways! Who wants that ugly thing in wedding photos? My photog actually emailed me to remind us to do it as editing them out is super time consuming. I'd say just ensure you keep them and explain it was for your wedding if you get flack!

Yes. The coordinator will even have a scissors with her to make sure it's removed before you walk down the aisle, or at least they have for every wedding I've photographed :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
