Random question! I'm from the Uk and tipping isn't very common over here. Do the staff at the resort expect tips? How much is acceptable?

Appreciate, yes.  I'm not sure if they expect them... but most people do tip.  How much is really based on the tipper.

Hi ladies!  I've been snooping this site for a while, but wanted to say hi now that my wedding date is official!  

 

November 18, 2014 - so excited!  We're staying at Akumal but I've requested the Tulum Gazebo for the wedding site.  Can someone confirm - would this area be easily accessible for a guest in a wheelchair?  I figured it must be better than the beach...

The gazebo is very accessible.  Here are some pictures to show the concrete path all the way to the gazebo and where a small amount of chairs can go also (they will put more chairs in the sand if you have more guests)

 

 

I did have a guest in a wheelchair at my wedding at the Akumal hammock location, but it was semi difficult to wheel her down there.  They made it happen, but it wasn't easy.

I was wondering what currency they prefer at the resort? We are traveling from the UK and have been told they prefer dollars to pesos is that true? I'm not sure which to bring? Thanks.

They will accept dollars and pesos, both happily.  It's Canadian money that they can't do much with.
