When we wee there we got drinks from the sports bar until midnight (included). There are bands and dancing at the hascenda until midnight when the disco opens. It's the best club I have ever been to at a resort!! So fun I convinced my fiancé to have our wedding here.

Does anyone know if they offer beach receptions? Or is the poolside the only outdoor options?

That's awesome to hear!! And congrats on your upcoming wedding! cheesy.gif

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the pool is the only option for outdoors... it's too bad because that would be our first choice for a reception too.

Okay thank you. My destination wedding specialist seems to think they offer beach receptions, but I haven't been able to find any info on it!

no beach receptions, and you figure out pretty quickly why.  The wind is kind of ridiculous and you'd get sand all in your food.  And depending on the time of year, the sand bugs can be REALLY nasty.  Plus it's super dark down there, so it'd cost a lot to somehow get lighting to the area and the pathways to make it safe for your guests.

Unless someone knows something that I don't, the last pricing I received for our Jan '14 wedding was still last years prices for packages and extras. Eugenia's assistant emailed them to us about a month ago to give us an idea, but she said that they could change still and we are supposed to contact them beginning of August to really get the ball rolling. Maybe at that point she'll send out the 2014 prices... here's hoping! cheesy.gif

Hi

There is NOTHING we would have changed :)   we had the Unforgettable package, ceremony was at Tulum Gazebo as it is more private.  When you then go onto the beach for photos it is a far quieter area and you don't get people in swimmers or worse lurking in the back ground.

Due to the death of my darling mum the week before we flew to Mexico we cancelled from a big party Reception and just went to the lobby area after having our meal in Don Pablo Restaurant.  One of my friends that was with us is a hairdresser so did my hair however 4 of the ladies in our party went to the salon and had no complaints about their hair - but was expensive for a wash & blowdry.  I don't wear much make up anyway so did this myself - falsh eyelashes, eyeliner and lipstick.

Anything else just holler

Hello!

I'm new here. I'm so excited to find this thread!! I can't get anybody at the resort to respond to me (I had to fight for 3 months just to get them to set a wedding date for me, and they've ignored the other email I have sent as well), so its great to have some references of what to expect.

So far, I have to say I'm not thrilled with the Akumal. I've always wanted a late afternoon/close to sunset wedding on the beach, and the resort refuses to let me do that. I'm booked in at 3pm on April 9th, 2014. Did anybody else get a later time than that? They told me they don't do it, but that seems really strange to me. I can't be the only one who wants to get married in the evening.

Reading reviews on here helps restore my faith that my wedding will turn out great. I'm worried, but I'm trying not to be.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
