Hi there

We didnt send out Save the dates as we booked a holiday with 6 friends then decided they were who we would want to be at our wedding so added that afterwards.  It then grew to as we told family and other friends.  Our wedding was 13 months away when we asked the others if they would like to join us.

Regarding gifts, we have bought toilet bags for each couple and will be filling them up with various things suitable for both (not sure of everything but wet wipes, gel handwash, mozzie repellant bangles, tissues, ibuprofen.  The men are golfers so golf tee's for them) They will be given out before we go, we have also got personalised photoframes that we will take and have on the dinner table for each couple too.

Great idea for bag gifts, I would have to travel with those things as 1/2 of our party will be coming from a different country, but I could get people from here to take some of them too...Thanks for the ideas!!!  And sunscreen for the bridal party so we don't have any burnt faces in the wedding photos!!!

Hello

We are getting married on 11 April 2013 and getting prices for the poolside party.

Hotel has emailed me quoting prices but seems to contradict what people say on here!

We have 20 guests so I calculate 20 x $5 for first hour then $3 thereafter. Is that correct or do you have to pay for the hire of poolside, lights etc?

If anyone could provide any information would be much appreciated.

Well, there is also a cost for the DJ or for a speaker system.  So perhaps that's the extra cost?

And you're getting married on my five year anniversary of getting married there :)

Hello ladies, This is my first post so I have no idea how this works...hopefully it shows up somewhere in the thread. My fiancé and I have booked at akumal for the week of march 9 2014. We just received an email from Paloma today asking for some choices but I wanted some feedback first. We want to have a symbolic ceremony at the tulum gazebo, then dinner at an a la carte followed by a poolside reception. Has anyone here gone to the ruins at tulum to do their photos? Also which restaurant would be best (we don't like seafood and have a few vegetarians with us)? Has anyone done speeches and if so, at the restaurant or reception? Lastly, how does the poolside reception work? Is this where we would have our first dance, dance w father, etc? Is there a resort dj that is decent or should we hire an outside dj? I would greatly appreciate your feedback! Thanks so much!

Hi Nic

You cannot get photos taken at Tulum Ruin for wedding day or trash the dress.

We get married at Tulum Gazebo on 20 June this year - cannot wait, we are having a civil cermony.  we are still finalising things which include deciding which restaurant we will  have our meal at, all the choices and menus are delish so its a tough choice!  We will have our speaches here - we are not having  a poolside party.

There are plenty others that have or are having these so will be able to  give you guidance.

Enjoy the journey :) Kirstin

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
