I'm staying at Tulum and getting married at Tulum beach. As much as i love the Akumal hammocks location I didnt want the hassle of getting allll the way over there (myself and my guests)
Did your TA not put you in touch with your WC? Usually this should happen when you're confirming the wedding date and location.
I've never phoned down there - Jazmin has always been pretty good at getting back to me.
the Tulum WC email should be groupsmx1@bahia-principe.com

Hope that helps!

My Review - sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

Feb 16-23, 2012

Stayed at Tulum (Diamond), married at Tulum gazebo

Emails between myself and Jasmine were always delayed however as you near closer to your date, responses do come quicker.  The pre-meeting with Jasmine is where you will confirm all your details.  This is also the time to give her your music and any decorations needed.  She is very attentive to your needs and wants.

Got my hair done at the Bahia spa...what a nightmare!  The lady was 20 minutes late, didnt turn on curling iron for another 15 minutes and proceeded to play with my hair.  Until I told her to move it, she did but thats where the nightmare began.  None of the curling irons worked so she would use a flat iron to attempt to curl it.  She also sprayed it with "protection" that made my hair sizzle and smoke...she blew the smoke away!  As my resilence quickly faded, bridezilla came out.  Not sure what see could not understand about "curly, curly, curly" and "grande, grande, grande" AND "mucho, mucho, mucho" yet she seemed determined to flatten my hair and stick it tight to my head.  While screaming...I attempted to fix my own hair (while holding back from swatting her), I eventually stormed out!

Got back to my room just bawling, only to see my wedding flowers and that put a smile on my face until I discovered my hair flower was missing (it was at the spa!!!!!).  Yes, the spa ladies did bring my flower (although I understand they were quite scared to come into my room).  Back to the flowers, the email Jasmine sent me was awful.  I sent her a picture of the flowers I wanted and she came through 200%.  I was SO happy with them.

The ceremony was wonderful (although I dont remember too much as it goes so fast!).  The script I gave for the ceremony was used 100%.

Pictures through Arreclife (sp) were ok...we seemed rushed and some of his poses were a little cheesy.  But i did land up with a few awesome ones!

Dinner was at Gran Tortuga.  It was ok but didnt compare to the Mikado or Fruito del Mar (sp) seafood.  The cake was beautiful and very tasty.  We decided to have a cocktail reception around the pool and we supplied the music.  It was great and beautiful!

Our room was beautifully decorated on a few occasions...having to clean up rose petals once is ok but 3 times?

All is all it was wonderful!  Sorry for the short review I would be happy to answer questions.

  • 2 weeks later...

I received the following information from Jazmin about having a Poolside Cocktail Party and I wanted to make sure that there are no additional costs than the $1,070 usd price I was originally quoted.

"you can have a private pool party with a cost of 1´070usd per 40people maximun and 3 hours of special drinks (piñas coladas, margaritas, sparkling wine & beers) +  special ilumination + sound equipment + speakers + microphone + lights and DJ- very nicely decorated"

Any brides out there recently come back from their wedding who decided to go with the poolside cocktail party??

I've updated the bridal roll call.  Please let me know if you don't see your name on the list and you'd like to be added.

Happy planning!

Hello!

I am headed down to the Bahia Principe in the Mayan on Wednesday to scope out the resort for our wedding next year (and also to relax!) :)

Just wondering if anyone has tips as to specifics I should try to look into while I'm there. Even though the wedding is still approximately a year away (we're planning to set a date while we're there), I'd like to start getting stuff organized and being there provides me with the perfect opportunity! Anything specific I should look into while I'm there?

ps. Should I speak to a travel agent previous to going to the resort next week and get the ball rolling in that area as well?

Open to any tips and suggestions!

Well if you haven't decided which resort you're staying at for your wedding that would be your 1st priority. Either Coba..Akumal or Tulum. The Hammocks beach location at Akumal is popular..as is the Gazebo at Tulum. You'll prob want to scope out the restaurants that will be a possibility for your dinner/reception.
Some of us are opting for the entire reception poolside. You'll want to check out the pools for that reason also.
Maybe have a look around the resorts for great photo locations too. Possibly try and meet with one of the Wedding Co-ordinators too. I believe its Eugenia at Akuma..and Jazmin at Tulum. They're pretty busy but if you maybe email them before you head down they can make some time for you and show you around when you're there. My parents did this in November. It was great..they were able to take pics of all the site locations for me to see. Sometimes the details you overlook can be a bigger deal down the road. For ex: The palapas around the diamond club pool were few and far between...when I discovered this I moved my reception to the main pool so there's better lighting and room for decorations.
Just my 2 cents! - Have fun!

So jealous! We're off to GBP Tulum on May 19th, cannot wait! We chose the Tulum location because we wanted proximity to the beach, and because it seemed a tad bit smaller then the Akumal side. But I have heard many wonderful things about each and every one!

Can I request a few pics of the Tulum Gazebo, and a view of the "aisle" walking towards it. I'm just trying to see how far it is to walk, and if my FI will see me right away or if there is some trees blocking it a bit.

Thanks, and have a fantastic trip!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
