Hair and Make-Up in Turks & Caicos?!

Hello and I hope everyone is having a good day!

Can anyone recommend a good hair and make up artist in Turks and Caicos?  Thanks in advance for your help! Also, any spa's nearby Villa Del Mar resort (or on Grace Bay Beach) where i can get pampered the morning of my nuptials?  Something fairly affordable...if possible.  Thank God for this forum and for anyone and everyone's help!

Best,

Hi Porschea,

I just received a quote for my wedding day hair and make up from Sheque Perfection (www.shequemakeup.com/) that nearly knocked my socks off.  It made no difference that I didn't want an elaborate "up-do," just the one side of my hair pulled back with a flower.

I'm now looking into Beauty and the Beach (649-946-5093), or one of my talented girlfriends to do my makeup!

What was the quote that Shenique gave to you?

In April, Shenique charged me $200 for makeup only (I did my own hair) and then I tipped her 20%.  My makeup did look great but the price still seemed steep to me. I wanted a 'fresh' look so there was nothing fancy, no fake eyelashes etc. But there just aren't a lot of options on the island. I considered doing it myself but a) that's not exactly my area of expertise and B) I do feel she understood the heat and humidity and made sure I didn't melt out there!

I'm getting married in TCI on Oct 8th.  I am working with Diane from Island Harmony that has set me up with Geraldine (hair) and Ann (makeup).  They work at Maxime le salon, but are coming to my hotel room.  I know they charge $50 each to come to your hotel for every 3 people they do their hair and makeup for.  I am actually not sure of their prices, as my hair/makeup is included in my wedding coordinator's fees.  I am attaching their contact information, so you can inquire if you are interested.

Here's a link to my wedding planner's site that has info on them as well.  http://islandharmony.com/beauty.html

Hope this helps.

I'm shockedddd!! She charged $200 for make-up? There has to be a better price out on the island. Whew!  I am going to continue and do my research but i guess i know the worst case scenario right now. I definitely am not good with make-up so this is an expense i cannot spare.   Thanks for your help lm3682!

Hi, I am trying to sort out the first week of school and watching out for TS Maria which seems to be headed here, but thought I would post info on hair and make up

This is copied from a post I submitted a while back on T&C Make-up and hair:

here is some info on the regular hair and make up people we see on island

There are 3 ladies that we see on a regular basis doing hair. For large weddings they work together on some occasions as well.

In no particular order....

Maximes....649-946-5093 Geraldine does hair and Ann (from Beauty and Beach day spa located in the shop) does Make-up.  contact info is posted above

April's Place - Hair - Nails - Skin care on Providenciales Turks and Caicos Islands 649-941-3993 April does hair.  She doesn't do make up.

Briget Wildt...bwildt@tciway.tc does hair (use to own Maximes and April worked for her when she first came on island, she worked from home after her son was born but now that he has just turned 11, she's opened up Tangled Hair Salon in Ports of Call

Sheque
(649) 245-5241 Sheque Does hair and make up

Full disclaimer here: April does my hair and has for years, Ann does my manicures and pedicures on island and I don't wear any make up. However....Geraldine and Bridget do the hair of many of my friends and Bridget does my hair if Aprils off island (and Geraldine does April's hair...LOL it's a VERY small island) I have seen loads of photos of Sheques work and she does great work as well.

We work with all of these ladies, professionally and know them personally. For make up, Ann and Sheque both enhance someones beauty, not take over and take a life of it's own.

For hair, they are all good and not over the top. They all work with a ton of different types of hair on island (the country's population is very international) as well as having to keep up with latest trends and styles. April goes every year to the international hair/and trade show...my sister lives in Atlanta and whenever she visits she books ahead to get April to cut her hair...I know others who plan vacations to get a touch up by Maxime or Geraldine.

It's not uncommon to have all of them working together with large bridal parties, they are all friends and very good to each other.

Additionally it's a SMALL island and if you don't do good hair and make up, you won't last a season here.  All of these women have been in business minimum 5-7 years with most in business here more than 10 years.

All of these ladies have very established clientele on island, so depending on when your dates are,  If they are coming to you, which involves packing up and travel time etc, vs coming to the salon where they can book you and other clients in before and after, they will charge accordingly.

Hope that helps, our blog usually mentions who did hair and make up for a wedding if you want to do a search for their particular names and the wedding will pop up!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
