Iron on transfer paper (help)

Recommended Posts

Quick question for those who have ironed on their logo onto the OOT bags...

I tried printing my logo tonight onto my natural colored canvas bags but the image on the bag was not nearly as bright and colorful as what printed on the transfer paper. Grrr. How can I make it appear brighter? Does the quality of the paper make a difference? How long I hold the iron on? How can I make it brighter and better looking like everyone elses I've seen!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

I didn't notice that problem when I printed mine. Did you set your printer to it's highest possible setting? I think I printed mine on "best photo" settings.

I don't have the package right in front of me, but I know I just held the iron on it for as long as the package said to.

  • 4 months later...

So I attempted to do a trial run w/ the iron on transfer paper I got from Promotional tote bags custom sizes and styles from cheap totes. But it didn't come w/ instructions on how to do it. I

-inverted the image on paint

-set my printer on "best" printing setting

-fed the paper w/ purple line up

-cut off the excess paper around image

-set my iron on the highest setting

-put a book under the bag for a harder surface to iron on

-and slowly ironed the image on

When I slowly removed the paper, there some cracking...

do you wait till it completely cools before removing?

How high do you set your iron?

How long do you iron it for?

I hate the shininess from the iron on paper that surrounds the image. Is there any way to dimish that?

And it kinda turned out brown...is that from a dirty iron or did I iron it too long?

errrr...i hate DIY projects...any tips/tricks would be great!

I just did some of these but I used the Avery paper from staples.

I had the iron set in the middle, otherwise mine goes into steam. I used a regular ironing board but I kept moving the iron around. I didn't leave it in one spot. I went backwards and forwards one way and then sideways back and forth the other, for about 2-3 minutes each transfer. I peeled the backing off after about 3 minutes, once it was cool enough to touch.

I'm not sure about your brown marks, maybe it burned? Try moving the iron. With the ones I did you can see the outline of the transfer faintly, but it isn't really shiny.

Hope this helps and if I can offer more advice please ask away!

Thanks Helen! I let my iron sit in one spot...i think that's why it turned brown. Also, Jessica (chpfan) told me to cut the paper as close to the monogram as I can. crap, I have 50 to cut!

First off let me start by saying that my iron-on-transfer papers did not come w/ directions. With the help of Jessica (chprfan) and the freakin' instructions in front of me (cheaptotes had to send it to me), they turned out much better than the first go around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
