Wedding Photographer from Destiantion or From Home????

Recommended Posts

We also chose to hire someone to bring with us.  For paying for her trip (which we got for free for having so many people book to come!)  she will be doing a total of 5 different shoots with us while we are there.  We will have our rehersal dinner, wedding and trash the dress shoot and then I will have, on my own, a boudoir shoot and a swim suite shoot.  I am very excited since I love pictures more then anything and to have all of these memories saved forever will be amazing.  Not only will she shoot just the main events but anything that she will be joining us at or on will have pictures taken!  So if you can find someone that you like their work and can work out a deal then I think you are better to take your own photographer with you.  Good luck!

The resort photogrpahers are normally just okay.  Reosrts are going to choose a photographer that is good enough to not lose them wedding business by not good enough to be highly sought after and thus highly paid.  My resort actually used to contract with a photographer that everyone loved (Juan Navarro) but now they have switched to using a different company.  However, it is often not as inexpensive as you might think to use that resort photographer.  I am purchasing the $2800 wedding package from my resort which comes with ~3 hrs of photography and 50 printed pictures.  To have added additional time on the wedding day, a TTD session, and to get the CD of the pictures would have cost me ~$1600 more.  For that kind of additional money it was worth it for me to find a local photographer willing to give me a good deal so I could get a lot more pictures.

Oh the way she made it sound is I would have to just pay the difference for the next package up since I am already doing the ultimate wedding package with the resort. So spending 500 more for all day coverage and the video is soo worth it to me. I figure out of the 100+ people we should have some decent and funny unprofessional shots that they get too. I guess then I won't stress about the photographer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
