Leg/Back Pain

Looks like I hurt my back - Bummer!

I've been having intermittent leg pain all week that has slowly spread to my lower back. Today it grew worse and I spent most of the day in bed (FI was great, brought me breakfast in bed, kept me company, etc.). At first it was freaking me out because the pain seems to be more in my calf bones than anything. It feels like I've been on my feet working all day in high heels but I haven't done anything exerting at all. I was thinking "Can you still get growing pains at 24??" lol. I haven't put on weight but have actually lost 15 lbs in the past 6 months or so so that couldn't be it. Finally today when it hit my lower back pretty hard I did a little research on the net and it looks like I probably just hurt my back somehow. I walk a mile to class 2 days a week with a heavy backpack w/computer & books in it so I'm thinking that could be it. Chiropractor won't be back in until Monday. Martin wanted me to go to Carenow tonight but I decided to just relax (stayed in from a wine/cheese party sad.gif). Tomorrow evening we have a huge show at the gallery that I'll have to be sharp for and on my feet for 5+ hours. I can get away with some low heels but not much more support on my poor feet than that. If the pain is worse in the morning I'll try and get into see a doc before the show.

Another thing is that this Mono seems to be lingering slightly. Whenever I get stressed (like today) I just end up feeling crappy and weighed down. My glands swell up and I get a mild grade fever (no more than 99.5) - just enough to make me loopy and whiney cheesy.gif. I was hoping to get insurance but found out the other day I was denied because of high blood pressure. No bueno.

Aww Jaime, you still haven't gotten rid of your mono?? I think you have the worst health luck. Wisdom teeth; gauz gets left in your gums, Mono, fall and hurt your ankle, back and leg pain. Girl, you just need to take it easy!! Do you really think standing in low heels for 5+ hours is a good idea? If you're not well, you're not well... don't make things worse...

I know, totally not the best thing to do but I've been out with Mono for quite a few shows this Summer and one of the other sales girls already took the night off so I've got to be there. Sucks but I've just gotta pull through... muscle.gif

Really the crappy thing tho is that my Dad (who owns the gallery where I work) strongly believes that we create everything in our lives so he gets upset with me whenever I get sick/hurt/etc. saying "Hmm, I wonder why you created this...?". It gets very frustrating and it makes me feel even worse when I'm already down.

I was thinking something like that or maybe a herniated disk...? Who knows. The pain is pretty bad still even after tylenol and a pain killer so I'm going to go in to CareNow tomorrow to see what they have to say.

Thanks for the well wishes Lizz and Shelley!

  • 1 year later...

Ok this is so weird - I just did a search for "herniated disk" and it brought me to my own thread almost a year ago to the day! LOL

I was actually diagnosed with a herniated disk & sciatica (kind of the same thing) about a month ago and placed on low dosages of tramadol and muscle relaxer at night.

I was actually searching around to see if anyone else has dealt with this and if you have any homeopathic remedies??

I'm breaking down and going to get an MRI later this week or next week. I'm in sooo much pain it's really getting to me.

I just called my Grandma to tell her I stumbled across this old post. pretty weird, it's been over a year... she said to print it out and take it in when we go see the doc, which I will. She also asked if I've been keeping a medical journal, to which I replied, "well, I have on BDW" - lol! Guess I will have to go digging through all my old posts now and see what I can put together!

Puts a whole new meaning on the typical BDW greeting of, "we're a wealth of knowledge"! lol. But seriously, that's crazy that your search brought up this thread again.

And I go back to my original post from a year ago - you've got some pretty shit-luck with your health. I think your grandma's right about keeping a journal. You poor girl, this seems never ending.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
