Hello, I am new to the forum and don't know where to start.  A month ago we had our heart set on Our Lucaya in the Bahamas after personally viewing the property and loving it. But after waiting months for prices, we finally realized that there might be better out there so we are starting from scratch! We are so overwhelmed with all the info available and was hoping with info from other brides like me, I could make an informed decision. If anyone is currently putting together a 2012 wedding and have found a great package deal or any info that might help me please feel free to add, thanks so much!!

Welcome to the forum! I know exactly how you feel. I started with NO idea whatsoever of where we would book our wedding. My fiancee and I made a list of absolute must-haves for our location, set a budget for both the wedding and what we thought our VIP guests could afford. We then took that list to a travel agent and polled a few friends who'd travelled the Carribean more than once. That got us down to list of 8 resorts. It was a glowing review on Tripadvisor from another couple that helped us make our final decision. In the end you'll go with your gut. Good luck!

We also started with no idea when we first looking into destination weddings.  We did research on tons of locations and resorts.  From there we were able to narrow down our search by making a list of what was and wasnt important to us.  From there we had a list of a few resorts we were considering so we went to a travel agent to help us narrow it down further. Good luck with your search!

well, what I did was first narrow our search to an area, then searched all their available wedding packages. After that I googled the review for each resort and then also did a search on travel website to get a idea on pricing.

From there, I narrowed it down to 3 resort. Then I went ahead and got a few group quotes from companies such as Westjet, Aircanada and Itravel. Base on the quoted price, we asked a few friends on their opinion and finally found our resort and TA.

We went with Westjet, they offered us the best price and they have been quite accommodating. If you have any question, just PM me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
