Sunquest - Cancelled Trips from NS Canada

I just received a call from my travel agent letting me know that Sunquest has decided they will no longer book trips out of NS, and we will have to start the booking process all over again.  I have 37 guests who all paid deposits 5 months ago, and now they will get the deposits back, and we will have to book again with someone else.  The problem is that the trips are now about $250 more per person then they were when we booked.

How do we ask our guests to pay more, or do we just cancel all together?

Has anyone else booked with Sunquest from NS?

Thanks,

Amanda

I'm booked with Sunquest but of of Toronto.  They have changed our schedule as well. We were originally to leave on the 12th, they pulled out the dates, and the now they are back again!! It was a total piss off because now we can't move back to the 12th and we have 5 days prior to our wedding (where oringally we would have only 2.5 days wait, and few for honeymoon!).

If your travel agent is somewhat good, he/she should try with another operator. If you already have 37 people with deposits, and the agent has someone he works closely with at another operator, he should be able to work something out for you. Maybe not the same price but within the range of $50-100.  If  this particular agent can't do anything, go somewhere else and present your situation and see what they can do.  Make sure you highlight that you have the deposits available.

  • 2 months later...

Sunquest also cancelled their direct flights out of Thunder Bay.  My Fiance and I had 30+ guests booked for a destination wedding in the Dominican.  We received the same dreaded phone call from our travel agent informing us that the fight was cancelled.  We waited in agony for several weeks to find out what alternative plans Sunquest would put together for us and we heard absolutely nothing from them.  Thankfully we have an excellent agent who recommended we rebook with a competitor that picked up direct flights out of Thunder Bay.  The alternative would have been to wait almost another month for Sunquestâ€s alternative solution which included a 10+ hour layover in Toronto and arriving in the Dominican after midnight.

I caution anyone considering a destination wedding through Sunquest, they obviously donâ€t care about customer service.  They can and will cancel arrangements at any time without warning or adequate communication.  They caused us to have to rebook everything for our wedding, including having to resend out all our wedding invitations with rescheduled details.  Caused us considerable stress and expense and even after a formal letter of complaint to their customer service department, I have yet to hear from any representative of Sunquest, even if just to say sorry.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
