Wedding in Mexico at GBP Coba

Hello All,

My fiance and I are getting married in Mexico at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba in April 2012. I have been reading so many things on this site (all super helpful), but am still undecided about a few things and would appericate some advice (that isn't from my mother or soon to be mother in law):

1) wedding on the beach or not?

2) restaurant dinner or theme dinner?

2) do we go with a reception after dinner or just head out to the disco?

Thanks,

Ariel

I cant provide you with information in regards to that specific resort as I am getting marraied at GBP Jamaica.  However, we decided to get married in the wedding gazebo vs the beach for a little more privacy and also a bit of shade.  We will take pictures on the beach though.  As to a reception at the GBP Jamaica its all at a restraunt and semi private so thats what we are doing.  We arent doing a formal reception after dinner, just goign to hang out and go to the disco.  Our group is a lot of fun so we will make our own fun!  Happy planning!!

I got married at the Akumal side... and my advice...

1. Beach.  It's amazingly beautiful

2. Theme dinner with dancing under the stars

3. Private reception for three hours, THEN head to the disco.  The disco doesn't open until late anyways.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Most brides go for the beach wedding... why else did you come all this way to get married if not to head to the beach?!?!?haha

Dinner is always nice outside ... but off the beach. Most people like to wear shoes and women with heels do not go on the beach! Plus... usually at sunset the sand bugs come out in full force for about 30 minutes then the are gone. If you can do a diner beside the beach and use the beach as your "dance floor"! That would be tonnes of fun!!! Last... do your 3hr reception and then head to the disco! As a roaming party... you will have fun wherever you end up!

Have fun with all your plans... hope this helps

Lincoln

Welcome, I am getting married at GBP Coba in Jan 2012!

We are doing a beach wedding, it is what I have always dreamed of and the whole reason we are going to Mexico to have are feet in the sand

We are doing a resturant dinner simply to cut back on cost, I would have loved to do a themed dinner but with our budget it just wasnt for us.

We are having a priviate reception after the dinner then we will head to the disco, I still want to do a first dance and have music that we want to hear and you cant really do that at the disco.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
