July 2012 Now Jade Riviera Bride

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the site and I am loving all of the information that is being posted.  My fiance and I are getting married at Now Jade on June 25th, 2012.  We have been working with Pilar and I am relieved to hear that she is slow getting back to several of her brides.  We are planning on doing the My Moments wedding package and upgrading where we see fit.  My fiance's aunt is coming and doing the photography for us.  My sister in law is doing my hair and makeup and we are having a family friend take video of the wedding.  In terms of additional flowers, I am loving the idea of meeting a vendor off the resort and bringing the flower back ourselves!   Thanks for the tip.  As for dinner, we are planning on having a reception when we return home from Mexico so we didn't want to spend a ton of money on a dinner there as well.  We are reserving a space (Terrace, Bamboo Room, not sure yet) on the resort for dinner, but will just be eating from the Festival Buffet Restaurant.  We are not planning on having a DJ, but we are also planning on bringing an ipod and partying with our favorite music from home.  I would love to see pictures of people decorations and ideas about party favors if anyone has suggestions.  My email is taylordc@mail.gvsu.edu.

Thanks!

I plan to just use the resort photographer (fingers crossed) but plan to ask Ana for some photos before I make a final decision (unless someone has done so already on this thread and can forward them on to me).  I do want tons of photos so going with an outside photographer might be my best bet.

I have seen in another thread recently that even though you can't  switch the photographer out with something else, they have been able to use the photographer to capture photos for their welcome reception/dinner/get together. Perhaps that would be a good option for you to take.  You'll still be using their photographer as part of the package, just for a different night.  Good luck!

I have my own photographer! I'm really bummed..it doesn't seem fair that everyone else is able to do it and maybe I'm just lacking the negotiating skills!. Its not going to make any sense to have an extra photographer..:( Anyone negotiating with her too? Any tips for me??

Hello Everyone!

I am curious what everyone is doing about hair and makeup. I just booked MVP hair and Makeup. I am super excited however, I had to put a 445$ non-refundable deposit down and pay the rest of the Money a month before my wedding. However I am freaking out because I am hearing that there is a 350$ fee for outside vendors. I can not afford to pay over a thousand dollars on hair and makeup that it would end up costing to pay the outside vendor fee. I am already spending $800 plus on getting hair and makeup for just three people I  can  not afford anything more. I am also not about to lose 400$ of my hard earned money if I have to cancel  my hair and makeup. Does anyone have any cheap options to get out of this outside vendor fee?! Please help as I am freaking out! Thank you.

Heather

Hi Heather,

I can see why you are freaking out, thats a chunk of cash for hair and make up.  I have heard of this resort charging an outside vendor fee, but i have also heard of people negotiating to have the fee waived.  I would try talking to your wedding coordinator to see what she is able to do.  Don't know if you want to do this or not, but maybe discuss with her that you and your guest will be bringing alot of business to the resort during their stay.  The only other thing i can suggest is going the salon instead of having them do it at the resort.  I know it's a pain.

Let me know how yoyu make out.

Getting Married May 6th 2012 ! Here is what I have so far.

Package: Divine

Ceremony: Pergola

Cocktail Hour: Mix Bar

Reception: Ocean View Terrace

My photographer is Derek and Lorena with Photos In Cancun. I'm using the photographer in the package the night before for family pictures on the beach as a gift to my guests.

I did switch out the music at the cocktail for partial DJ time. I am paying the difference in price.

I decided to go with Real Touch flowers. I swapped my bouquet for an extra centerpiece.

For dinner  I wanted to give my guests the option of two entrees. All other courses are the same. Ana said as long as I sent her how many of each ahead of time we should have no issues or extra cost.

Hoping to get everything else figured out in the next two weeks or so. I am planning a full out reception at home two weeks after our wedding so need to get at least this part done early :)

Hi JadeBride,

I am doing the Your Moments Package as well. (Wedding is May 16th)  We just booked Sascha Gluck for 3 hours of photography.  It was one of the lowest quotes I had gotten from a photographer and his photos were among my favorites.  Also his response time was within a few hours.  So check him out! :)

Just curious what you are planning to do after the ceremony.  We were thinking of making a large reservation at one of the restaurants but after 10 people they charge $22/person.  I was wondering what others who weren't doing the full reception were planning to do..????

Hello,

I am having a wedding at Now Jade Riviera Cancun in July of this year. I am just now trying to finalize all of the details regarding going through the resort or through a different vendor for  flowers, pictures, etc. I was wondering if there are any recently married brides from the Now Jade that can give me feedback on their experience and any advise that can be helpful regarding the do's and the don'ts.

Thanks!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
