July 2012 Now Jade Riviera Bride

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone-

reading through the posts, I feel the same exact way.  Pillar seems very nice, but there's a lag when it comes to response time.

We are getting married in Dec 2012 (Jade Now) and I still dont feel like I have all the options and facts.

At this point, I am not sure what is and what is not included in the package.  Inititally I thought that the DJ was included in the package (someone we know got married there in July 2011 and their package included the DJ), but I think it does not?  Pillar responded to a few questions I had and included a price/quote for the DJ, so now I'm unclear.  As far as the flowers, I also thought that the package included the flowers, is that not the case?  I have so many questions and to some extent, I feel alittle iffy - since I feel like I dont have all the facts and options straight.  I am relieved to feel that others are equally as fuzzy...

Any information about the DJ, photographer, flowers, hair and make up would be GREATLY appreciated.  I too will share any/all information with all on this forum.  Thanks guys!

Hello LadyDoGa,

What package are you getting? The D.j. is no longer included an any of the packages as of this year (2012) you will have to pay $250 per hour for d.j. and another $150 for the sound system. The Divine package does include your choice of guitarist, saxophonist or violinist during the

ceremony (1 set, 45 minutes). As far as the flowers go all 3 packages include bride's bouquet and groom's boutonniere, but depending on the package you have you have to chose from the flowers they offer for the certain package if you want to upgrade you have to pay the difference. The Eternity  also includes a boutonniere for best man and corsage for maid of honor, the Divine  includes two additional boutonnieres and two additional corsages. Regarding other flowers again only the Eternity and Divine package include more but it is not a lot more . The Eternity package only includes ONE centerpiece which is mainly on the bride and groom's table. If you want any other flowers such as centerpieces, or even for the ceremony you will need to pay extra. The Divine package as well only has ONE floral arrangement, but in this package the ceremony  Gazebo decor- chairs with white covers, ceremonial table and carpeted walkway is included. So in my opinion it is not worth using what the package offers unless of course you do not care about the decor or having more flowers, because they are very expensive if you start adding more through the resort. I decided I am going through an outside vendor the website is www.floresbodacancun.com   her name is Saku and she is great with responding promptly. You should really check her website out. Now the Now Jade does charge an outside vendor fee of over $300 but you might want to try talking to Pilar she agreed to waive that for me since I told her I would not use any of the flowers that come with my package. I hope this is helpful I know there is so much info and it really does get quite frustrating especially since Pilar does not always reply as soon as we would like her to.   Good Luck!!!

Thanks so much for the info and the quick reply!! We got the Divine Package - which is the most expensive one.

I agree with you about the flowers - much more expensive than I anticipated.  As you know, the bride's bouquets range from $80 to $350 (ouch) and the Centerpieces range from $65 to $230 (ouch again).  We anticipate that we will have approximately 40 guests (possible maybe even 50-60; we are inviting close to 90), so to get 4 centerpieces for the 4 tables gets costl really fast.  The bride bouquet that comes with the package is okay, but nothing stunning, and I feel that it should be a nice bouquet since it's going to be in the pictures.  Thanks for the recommendation (website) I will definitely check it out; more importantly thanks for the advice on waiving the vendor fee.

Just to be clear: in order for Pilar to waive the vendor fee, you have opted out of any/ALL the flowers that were part of the wedding package?

lastly, did you guys get a wedding package or was are you doing everything a la carte? and just paying for the items you are interested in?

At this point, I hear good things about the food, and if you get lucky, good things about the photographers/videographers assigned by the resort.  I think the flowers are very highly priced as is the "deluxe set up for the ceremony" ($15 per chair - just for the chair covers, bow and flower?).  I think the cost of $4 per color napkin is a bit steep too - if we have 40 guest, that's $160 just in napins cost! hahaha (not really).  I am sure you have done the calculations and the math, so you are aware.  If you have the time, I'd greatly appreciate any additional info you can share...really, much appreciated.  This has been (so far) a little overwhelming.

Be well.

Thanks

Fellow brides:

first, I just wanted to apologize for not introducing myself and just posting to this thread.  To be honest, I got so excited by all the information (some of the same struggles/challenges/questions) posted on this forum, I just jumped in and started asking questions!! I just could not believe I found this site!  So much great information and everyone seems so friendly and helpful.

We are getting married in Now Jade on Dec 8th, 2012.

We just secured the wedding date with Pilar for Dec 8th and opted for the Divine Package, and now we are working on the room reservations/contract.

MRS-UPS:

in regards to your post --

Reception is going to be in the Castaway restaurant - I would love any pics/info/questions about this. I think it is going to be a great space.

We are probably going to have 40-60 guests and are going to do the Divine package.

Were you able to get pics of castaways?

I have some, and I am happy to share.  Let me know.

Hello All,

We have just booked our wedding for April 2013 at the Now Jade as well.  We have chosen the Eternity package.  So far I'm just checking this all out for info, but am looking forward to the planning process!

I am curious if anyone knows the costs of the table linens?  I saw that it is $4/napkin, does anyone happen to know about the table linen (if you want a color other than the white that is included?).  Just curious.

Our travel agent suggested also bringing a ipod dock or small stereo so we did not have to rent the stereo system for $150, so we may do that.

Good luck to all of you, and looking forward to reading these forums for the next year! :)

Jen

Hello Everyone,

Great posts everyone.  I am getting married at the Now Jade resort in April 2013.  Does anyone have any pictures of the garden site or know if it is more private than the Pergola?  Also, any pictures of the Festival Terrace or Ocean Terrace?

Thanks
Sarah

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
